Sirius Radio

I recently drove from FL to my home in Cincinnati and back to FL in my step-father's new car. he has a Sirius radio and I loved it! No hassle with trying to find a station, news when you wanted it, sports if you cared to, jazz, classical...it was all there at the press of a button anytime I wanted it!

The radio was optioned on, so I have a ballpark for the price, but since it came with a year free, I do not know what the rate is to continue service. I would love to get this radio on my new car, but DH is horribly allergic to monthly payments and I know it will be a tough sell. Does anyone know the annual fee for Sirius? I need to get all of my ducks in a row so DH will see that I am serious . Sorry, couldn't resist!

I have XM satellite radio and have had it for 2 months now. I love it. I hear 10-12 songs every morning on my 30 minute commute, instead of 3 songs with endless DJ patter and commercials. I talked to a soccer dad about it Saturday. He likes to "hear what is going on locally' and doesn't mind DJ crap, but I'd much rather read the paper and do without that stuff.
XM cost $10 to activate over the internet, I think it would have been $12 or $13 over the phone, and it is $10 a month. I pay every 3 months. It is well worth it for me. I am sure sirius is comparable. Plus, if your husband likes it, sirius has all the NFL games.
I just read that XM has 2 million plus subscribers and sirius has 600,000.

DH got XM radio before we left on our WDW trip. He loves it!!! I could really do without it. Regular radio was fine with me or burning a CD with my favorite songs is fine also.

If you are really looking into get a satellite radio and your DH likes NASCAR, might want to look into XM. They have all NASCAR channels. That might sell him. I think that's what sold DH on XM. Guess you can only get the NASCAR channels on the XM radio.

Since I'm the one that pays the bills, the XM radio costs us $10. something a month. That includes tax.

We pre-paid for 1 year service at $144. My husband has it in his truck and he absolutely loves it. I want it for my vehicle, can add 2nd service for $6 month, but I really don't have a convenient place for it. We also have the boom box and it is really convenient for listening to NFL games on Sunday. We are Panthers fans (obviously) and can never get the games on tv.

I have xm radio in our pathfinder and love it weve had it for 10 months now,never had onbe time werer we couldnt find a channel.I love 41 the boneyard.And if were away and nascar is on i still can listen to it and not miss anything.

We have both XM and Sirius. It's great having your pick of the kind of music (or talk or sports or news) that you want.

I read today that Howard Stern has signed with Sirius starting in 2006. He sees satellite as the future of radio. Personally I'm glad I have XM because I don't like Howard Stern, but that's an indication that satellite can't go anywhere but up.

I listened to Howard's announcement and I will be going with Sirius when the time comes...

"Terrestial radio" (ala Clear Channel) will be fighting back. I hope they keep their mitts off satellite radio.

I have had XM for just over two years. Got it for my DH 3 yrs ago this coming Xmas. I could never go back to regular radio

We live in CT and drive to NH a lot. We are also big Nascar fans. No problems with ever trying to find stations to listen to the race on the way home on Sunday afternoons. No static, over 100 channels. I don't know how I ever survived with regular radio!

Like others have said we did the prepay for $144 a year. You can get the roadie system now for like $120. Bought it for FIL for Father's day. When we bought the system, we had to buy $250 radios and antennas, so the price has come down a lot!

If Howard is going to Sirius, you can bet that this will be the fastest growing company in satellite. XM may have more subscribers now, but not for long.

we have XM. we got the Roady 2 receiver at Best Buy for about $100 with everyhing. I think it's $10 a month but less if you prepay by the year.
