I am so sick of my sinus being all plugged up in my forehead. Anything work? Nothing I buy seems to help. TIA

If this is an ongoing thing, your best bet is to find out what's actually causing the congestion. If it's been more than a week, then it's probably not an infection that's going to go away on its own. It might be allergies in which case you wouldn't need a decongestant, but an antihistamine. Or it could be unseen mold or mildew from your bathroom or carpets.

If a decongestant isn't working, then it's probably not a decongestant you need at all. Honestly, I'd just recommend a trip to the doctor to figure out what's going on. He/she would be the best one to know what to recommend as far as medication goes.

The only thing that works for me is Zyrtec D and Nasonex(prescription) combined. I have severe allergies though....

Zyrtec D is pricey even though it is over the counter. I buy the generic form at Sam's for $12 for 12 days worth of meds.

I have lots of problems with my sinuses too. I use the generic claritin I get from Sams plus I also use plain old saline spray which really helps me.

Mucinex D works for me, although it sometimes keeps me up at night.

For allergies I use the generic Zyrtec (wal-mart. It's the only thing that works.

Depends a lot on what's causing it. Could be actual congestion (mucinex, allegery meds and LOTS of water- a neti pot if you are up for it,) allergies (different things for different people), I was treated for sinus infections for years when it turns out I just have a nasal passage that's prone to swelling shut. I have an RX nasal spray that works wonders for it and there's an excedrin product...think it's called sinus headache..that works well for reducing that swelling, too.

Neil Med Sinus Rinse Kit will help relieve the pressure and get some gunk out. It seems gross, and it is awkward the first time you use it, but it does help.

my hubby did a bunch of research online and found that thyme (fresh) brewed into a tea is an option. funny thing tho as I was rolling my eyes at this we have tried it and it does work. maynot taste great (add honey or sugar to help it along) and drink it a few time a day. cheap and it does not make you all wonky like some of that stuff does so worth a try. most grocery stores carry fresh thyme in the produce section

I buy a years worth of zyrtec (regular, not D) at my Sams for about 13 dollars, then I get equate brand 12 hour Sudafed (20 pack) for 5 bucks... much cheaper than the actual zyertec D:thumbsup2

I use the generic version of Sudafed from Walmart (so cheap and very effective!) for most congestion, but when it doesn't work, I add a generic Mucinex. Works every time.

I hope whatever you try works for you and you feel better soon!

For me, Mucinex D and a sinus rinse kit does the trick. I totally feel for you though...its a miserable feeling.

Feel better soon!

I use Sudafed, not the shelf stuff, get the ones kept by the pharmacist. For allergies I take zyrtec. I also do sinus rinses and have a steam breathing machine.

Costco sells Allertec D in their pharmacy department, it's comprable to Zyrtec D and much cheaper. It works great too.

Neti pot for immediate relief, for longer term relief, you can use Mucinex or Robitussin (breaks up phlegm). If the discharge is yellow or green, then you have a sinus infection. If it's a sinus infection, your choices are to go to the doctor and get antibiotics (Z-pack) or let it run its course. Letting it run its course could take up to 10 days.

Aleve D and neti pot....ahhhhhhhh.....relief!

I have had awful sinus infections. I finally started using a neti pot and it has worked wonders. I still get a sinus infection every once in awhile but it is much improved. My doctor says that if you do have a sinus infection and a using neti pot at the same time you can push the bacteria further back into your sinuses so I would go to the doc for an exam and possibly prescription before you start with a neti pot.

Dollar Tree sells a med called severe sinus congestion and pain by assured. It's amazing. I get sinus infections and if I take this at the beginning, I feel so much better. It basically has acetaminophen, phenylephrine, and gauifenesin.

ib profin. seriously. the troubles isn't nessesaryily the mucus, it is the inflamed passages, which ib profin will help. :confused3 get well soon.

Okay, so I have constant problems breathing through my nose, have had since I was a child. I was a Mouth Breather till my 1st grade physical where I heard the Dr. state I didn't breath through my nose. What?? Is that what that thing is for?? I tried it but nope nothing!

In College a friend's Dad who was a Chiropractor showed me a way to help me. First remove my glasses, then really really softly start just above the nasal openings in the dip as your nose narrows, use the tips of fingers and lightly move in small circles, don't push hard or this will give you a bloody nose, now move the circles slowly up to the top of your nose. then lightly rub with your finger tips with a quick sweeping motion from the top of your nose down under your eyes (sort of along the bottom of your eye socket). Then put your finger tips together, in a V shape, over your nose. Rub downwards ONLY (not upwards) sweeping under the eyes (almost the same motion you'd use to rub the sleepy dust out of your eyes, but along your nose instead) then start over and do this 3 to 5 times, then put your finger tips together, in the V shape again, putting the second knuckle of your first fingers between your eyebrows so your hands are over the nose. now rub up and down all across your eyebrow (starting by your nose and working to the outside corners of your eyes), then if you aren't clear do small little light circles across your eyebrows (starting by your nose and working to the outside corners of your eyes). Then if none of this helps it is time to go to the Dr!!

I have just discovered Vick's Sinex. It is a nasal decongestant and works wonders for me. It is a 12 hour product and I find it really helps. It gets rid of everything. It is a little expensive but it is not something I use every day, just when it is unbearable.

I take the over the counter version of Zyrtec for my allergies, it is the only one that helps me.
