I recently found myself single and really enjoy disney world,
is anyone out there in there 50's or 60's that travel alone?
Everything I am reading are younger people doing the solo thing.
Any advice?
any single man over 52 looking to met someone that is a disney freak?

I know the feeling. I'm 56 and did my first solo in Dec '07. This year my DS will coming with me before he heads off to the university but I'm sure I have a few solo trips left in me.

I sometimes go to Disney solo and the only part I don't like is dining out alone. Often I plan solo trips when others are going , so it isn't a problem to meet up with them for dinner . Otherwise I tend to eat in my studio or fast food...so much of the experience of fine dining is the company.

Hmmm, when I am solo, I prefer to eat at the bar at fine dining establishments. That way I have the company of the bartender (the bartender CMs at WDW are always willing to chat). Makes it most bearable.

I have not done a solo trip since 2001. I have my 2nd one scheduled for Nov 11-14.

Hoping to find someone else that will be there during that time.

Over 50, often travel solo, and LeCellier was one of the first sit-down resturants where I felt comfortable dining solo (except for one brief moment!). Tip-ask politely for a window table-I've always done that and always gotten one so I can enjoy people-watching while I eat. But it gave me my brief moment of discomfort-a person outside came over to the window, and stared at my food for several seconds. Kinda wierd feeling!

I know I don't belong here but the 40s thread I started but just wanted to give my feedback concerning dining alone.

I have never had trouble dining alone or feeling weird about it. In fact sometimes I can get seated faster being a party of 1.

I'm an over-50 who does many solo trips. Initially I felt the same way about dining alone at table service places but then realized I was being stupid <g>...no offense intended. I loved LeCellier and didn't want to only eat there when I was traveling with others. I book it every trip, solo or not, and there's no place I won't book as a solo. If you're uncomfortable, bring a book ro something to occupy your tie while waiting. My only concern would be how to pass the time - not what others might think about me dining alone. I don't care what any stranger might think - and neither should you!

I've been traveling solo for quite a few years LOVE it! I wouldd much rather do a sit down meal than counter in a food court. Post here when you decide when you are going and I'm sure a Diser would love to join you. Sometimes I book Beirgarten where you sit at a table with other people. I've met some pretty interesting people including cast members.

hey 60 and still go several times a year.

trying to move to Florida.

now don't mind eating alone at ts - my problem is my allergies - waiting at a TS for an hour or longer while the chef has to prepare your meal. well own DVC for a reason. do most of my meals myself. although generally go to breakfast.

I am in that over 50 group ( 57 ) that goes to WDW solo.

I've done 12 annual solo trips already, while my DH stays home with our cats.

I'm pretty much over the self consciousness of dining alone.
I still carry my "helpers" while dining alone, though. I carry a pen, a small notebook, and the park map of the day to look at while I am eating.

It works great !

52 here..did WDW solo once a couple years back...I loved the fact that I could go and do what I wanted when I wanted...I was there at rope drop and got kicked out with the last dogs...JUST LOVED IT...

Having said that, I would tell you that I did get a bit melancholy a couple times seeing families and couples having so much fun....

I am glad I did a solo...not sure if I will ever do it again..but never say never...

oh if you are looking for a man - might try WWoS - or the offsite sports field.

most of WDW fans is still women.

you will at times see a solo man. but you are more likely to see a solo female or females with friends.

wdw is not high on the list for man hunting.
