Not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but I've googled myself blind and can't seem to find any good information.

I've just found out I am divorcing. I had been planning a trip to Disney for a while. I would still like to go. My DSs are almost 3 & 5 but it's been a rough year and we could all use a little magic. Is this even possible? Am I crazy??

All along I've planned on this as not being a "BIG" Disney trip. More like an intro -- some character meals, autographs, that kind of stuff. But I know my older son will want to do Buzz Lightyear and other stuff.

Can I do this alone with 2 small children?

We plan on staying at the POFQ in mid January, would only be doing park(s) 2 weekdays, and will have a car.

Any tips, suggestions or referrals for other sites greatly appreciated. (Except for suggestions of taking another adult, that most likely is not possible.)

Thanks!!
Shari

I think you can do it. I wouldn't want to. You're going to be one tired Mom and I suspect emotionally it'll be a little rougher than you might expect.

It sounds like you are keeping things realistic though (only 2 parks, car etc.) and I think if you keep your expectations low and go at your kids' pace you'll do all right. Good luck.

It does depend on your kids - you know them best. I think it's worth going. If your kids are willing, you may want to rent a double stroller at the parks for when they get tired/cranky, or just so you can easily keep track of them. Just take it slow & take pleasure in the small things. As long as you don't have some grand plan of things you "have" to do and go with the flow, it will be fun. It will certainly be a nice distraction from things. The play areas at MK and MGM are great for the little ones to burn their energy, and the character meals should hold their interest long enough for catch to get your breath. Actually, the Little Mermaid and Playhouse Disney show at MGM have also been great with my 2 boys. They don't get as much out of Epcot or AK, so I usually stick to just MK and MGM for maximum kid fun. Another nice thing is that the 3 of you should be able to squeeze across the bench on most of the Fantasyland rides. Go and Enjoy...and good luck! :wizard:

I am so sorry about your divorce. I am going through a similar sitiuation. I made a post about taking my 3 and 6 year old alone. DH just left me for a 20 year old and now I want to try to take my kids to Disney alone. We need something to look forward to and something to plan. We are going to go. I am pretty sure that I will manage just fine and you can too. We won't be going until summer because I am a teacher. I think you should go. Let me know how it goes.

It sounds like you have the right attitude for the trip -- take it easy, short trip, no commando touring. I think you'll be fine, and the Magic might be just what you need right now.

A trip alone with kids the ages of yours it totally do-able. I started taking my dd's alone when they were 2 and 4 and we still do our solo trips now. POFQ is an excellent choice and you may not even need/want to use the car.

Especially for the MK if you take the WDW bus you will be dropped off at the entrance to the park. If you drive you need to park at the TTC and then boat or monorial to the MK.

All of the attractions and rides that your kids will want to ride can be done 3 to a seat no problem. We have done them all as 3, buzz lightyear, peter pan, pooh, even dumbo. I can't think of anything without a height restriction that you can't sit together as 3.

POFQ is a great choice as it has everything and is small and compact. Its an easy walk to anything you need with a great pool for kids and lots of activities at POFQ and even more at POFQ. You can take a boat to DTD to enjoy that area esp the lego store.

When you think of all the things we do solo with our kids day to day WDW isn't much different. Don't go commando just enjoy time away with your kids, you don't have to cook, clean or even make the bed - just 1-1 time with the kids.

If you decide to go and want more tips or have questions ask away. I am pretty sure that I have done it all alone with my 2 dd's by now :)

This all makes me feel soooo much better! You can't even imagine. Some things just confirmed my gut instincts and others completely calmed my absolute fears -- like I was sure we wouldn't be able to put 3 in any rides.

MK and MGM were my plan, so that's so good to know also.

I'm so happy to have found such positive and supportive responses. Thank you all so much! And, I'm sure now that I'm going to bite the bullet, I'll have lots of questions as the trip nears.

Yeah!!
