Single Rider not until 11am?

The last time I went to the parks (more specifically IoA) there seemed to be a rule in place that you couldn't do single riders at least until 11am. For Kong, they seemed unsure if it would be 11, or 12. I went back to Kong and they said, "No," for 11am when I showed up, so I moved on.

So, I was wondering, was this due to the holiday season, or is this a new rule in general?

They do open and close the single rider line based on wait times so maybe they were saying based on opening crowds the single rider line isn't opened for a couple of hours and that would be around 11.

Sure, but Kong got rid of their SR line once they got EP, which happened before or during my August trip. So it's a confusing post.

They don't seem to have a standard time that they open the single rider lines. On that particular day, they could have been planning on using 11am. We've found single rider line availability to start a random times. We've checked Hulk at 2pm and not had a single rider line but then it had one at 2:30pm on the same day. On another day near that, there was a Hulk single rider line open at 10am. Both were low crowd days. So, I'm not sure how they decide.

I don't know about opening the SRL at a particular time. But, the last time I was there, if the regular line was below a certain level they would close some of the SRL (I'm guessing to save on staff). Conversely, if the SRL get too long they will close the single rider line. This is especially true if the anticipated wait in the SRL would be nearly as long as the regular line. The happened to me a couple of times at Gringotts.

I've seen them close it when it gets too long, but not when it's too short. I do not understand them closing it off if it's too short to save on staff since there is no staff involved really in the single rider line. There is only the person(s) outside of the ride and the one at the end that tells you where to go. Which in both cases are there for anyone who goes on the ride, not specifically single riders.

I only asked since it seemed both places that had single riders both said 11am (even though Kong didn't open then) and I never experienced that before. While Kong according to you some guys apparently doesn't do single riders anymore, from what they explained to me they still have it, but they lead guests through the express line. They don't seem to want to advertise it, or make it well known. Which makes sense since Gringotts has a habit of filling up quick and closing down frequently since a lot of people use it that way.

Perhaps, this is a IoA thing, but not Universal? I ask, because I normally for the most part go over to Universal first thing and I normally have no issue with going on single rider lines early in the morning, but this is the first time in quite sometime I went to IoA first thing and I had this happen to me.

Definitely not advertising it. To the point of telling countless people since a month after it opened that they don't do it anymore. :)

SRL takes staff to make sure people understand the single riding part of it. I think the person was saying that if standby is short they might close SRL, which makes sense to me bc if it's going to be the same wait length for a person then why have the extra line?

If you're still there, see if you can get Kong single rider. Seems they told you info but I'm not sure you actually went through it.

As someone who uses single rider on a regular basis, even first thing in the morning when there is often less than five minute waits, I think going through single rider still saves enough time which would be a good enough reason to me to keep it open. The line doesn't require extra staff to control, or operate it. It's just another line. Even if there is "no wait", the time that it requires to walk through the whole queue feels as if it is five minutes. Being able to do this makes me accomplish a lot in the morning and lets me have time to do other things later. And while, some single rider lines are considered a "shorter" wait, sometimes they are the opposite and can close down as it's been previously mentioned as the day goes on. Which is why I do try to do single rider, even first thing in the morning, because on rides (like Gringott's) it can be impossible to do single rider rather quickly. As it can sometimes be a half hour wait and the single rider line can be too packed to wait a reasonable time, or be closed relatively early in the day.

I unfortunately am home at the moment, once they told me they were not opening it at 11 that day, I decided to move onto other things. Riding Kong again can be for another day. If I cannot do something, I just simply accept I can do it another time. I often have a habit of hitting a few rides and move onto the next park and are able to do a few more within only a couple of hours due to my methods.

The "old" rule was...the standby wait time had to be at least 30 minutes before any of the single rider lines were opened. If the wait is short, there's really no need to have another line open. Not sure if they still do this or not.

Well, as someone who often starts at Universal, I would have to say this rule isn't followed through on that side. I often automatically do single riders first thing and that is the main reason why I accomplish so much within a few hours on the US side. As this is the first time I've tried thing on the Islands of Adventure side that early in the morning, they might follow through with the "old" rule. However, Spiderman was a 30 minute wait already at the time and the single rider line was closed.
