Single Rider Lines - To Split Up or Not To Split Up?

I ride everything at Disney and enjoy them all. But, I'm not there for the thrills. I'm there to create a memory with my family. So, no. I have never used a single rider line, nor do I expect I ever will. If the time comes where I can't get at least one family member to go on an attraction with me, I'll skip that attraction. In my mind, hearing my daughter's scream, being able to glance at my son's face, or holding my wife's hand trumps 15 minutes saved in line.
I believe the post was directed at the OP who had debated using the single rider line. I don't believe the poster (westcoastwild) was insinuating that ANYONE who DOESN'T take the single rider line is crazy. Lol.

I love single rider. As our family we do it whenever we can. We did it for rockin rollercoaster, Everest and test track. I have to say at RR it did not seem like a good choice. We waited almost as long as the regular line but at Everest it is awesome. Test track can be faster or not we actually had to ditch the line since we stood for almost 8 minutes and did not move. I love to come up with the strangers and introduce myself as their single rider. It is fun and it works for my family

We do TT single rider :) but only after we've ridden it once together. Usually it's just after a nice dinner somewhere in Epcot :)

EE - well, DH won't ride this so single rider all the way.

RnR is another one - not worth single rider if you're in a couple as the single rider line can be just as long.

My dad and I ALWAYS do single rider if we don't have a FP. A lot of times we get put on the same car (whatever it's called for any specific ride), and if we don't we just always make it a point to wait directly outside of the ride exit for the last one done. The only single rider line that has ever taken any real time was RnRC, but even that wasn't terrible.

Hubby and I don't but we like to ride together. That said, if riding multiple times is a priority, I'd split up!

Thanks for all the responses!

So, to sum up:

TT at EP is worth doing single rider. Hubby loves TT so we'll go for it, maybe a few times, for sure.

EE at AK is also worth it. We do have a FP for this one, so we'll get at least 1 ride together and some split trips.

RnR at HS isn't on our list, but for the lurkers it may or may not be worth it. A few have said standby is just as fast or even faster than the single rider line.

OP didn't sound like it bothered them to split up, they just wanted to know would it be worth it to split up. If your goal is a shorter wait time, then yes, it is. Unless it's Rockin' Roller Coaster, the wait for that one isn't always shorter in the single rider line.

I like the best of both worlds. Especially on Expedition Everest. Book one FastPass to ride together, then go back again and again in the single rider line.

As for the debate, I have heard people arguing about it in the parks though... so it's interesting to hear the reasons why. Maybe we could make this thread into a poll.

Overheard, a couple in front of the single rider line:
"But I want to ride it together"
"It's not like we can talk to each other while the coaster is going"
"It's only 20 minutes! I don't want to sit with a stranger."
"Why should I wait 20 minutes when we can walk right on? You wait in the 20 minute line."
"Now you're just being ridiculous."
"No, what, no -- you know what? You're the one being ridiculous."

Me: "Um, excuse me... can I get through?"
