Single Rider Line... What age?

Hi everyone,

We are going in the end of June for one day to DCA, and was hoping to do some single rider line action. My son is 9 (will almost be 10) at the time, is that too young? What is your opinion? My 13 year old daughter is fine and she doesn't mind since it means a shorter wait in line, my son is more apprehensive (and obviously if he is against it, we wont do it, but he is open to the idea at this moment). We tried it once at Universal Hollywood but 2 seats happened to open so he and I rode together anyhow. I am thinking mostly about RSR but also maybe Soarin. Would love input on how old your kids were when you first tried the single rider line. I hope to get Fastpasses, but worried that since it is a Sunday in the summer we may not get them and since we are only there for one day... then we might need to resort to SRL.

7 is the official age. Soarin no longer has a single rider line.

Soarin's Sat was awful. If you had a good experience in the past it was a fluke. There are very few single spots on soarin and I have heard that my long wait in SR was the rule not the exception.

Would love input on how old your kids were when you first tried the single rider line.

My son first did it at uni Orlando after I finally noticed the sign that said kids 48" (and who met that rides reqs) could ride alone. He was 6.5 and later that day went on the Nuthouse coaster 15 glorious times in a row, alone.

When we next hit Anaheim he was 7. Started with the Gadget coaster because you can pretty much watch over the whole line. Sent him in on his own and made sure he wasn't being atrocious in line lol.

After that we started riding RSR and have only used the SR line for that. We talk about where to meet up and all the "ifs".

My granddaughter can't wait to turn 7 so she can go with her "girl squad" (teens that come with me and take her on rides, she thinks she is as big as them!) and they can do single rider.

I"m sure there are 10 year olds who shouldn't do SR (or parents who can't handle it, and that's OK...I still want one of us to ride with DS on CA Screamin', and I suffer physically and emotionally to ride with DS on Hulk etc out at Universal b/c I REALLY can't handle the idea of him riding those coasters alone), but I think we can all figure out if we have a kid (or self) like that.

7 is the magical age at Disney, though!

For RSR we try to casually meet up at the photopass area, but just in case that's crazy-busy and we're in peoples' way, or if one of us is sent to the accessible car area, the other meetup spot is near the Stanley statue all the way outside the exit (making sure NOT to photobomb anyone).

Love the girl squad!!! Yes, Screamin I wouldn't let him ride alone. Shoot, last time we went he wasn't tall enough and almost cried, since he wanted to try it so bad. I loved it Hopefully he is tall enough this time, and my daughter (who does NOT do upside down roller coasters) can stand and wait for us on the side. I love all the rides, just all the lines for the most part, oh and the ones that spin I have to pass on now, old age and motion sickness and all (I still take Bonine each day just in case). If you're there before, say, 11:00 (unless it's crazy busy) there should still be some RSR FPs left.
