Hi all!

I initially thought the single rider lanes were closed but I checked the Universal App and rides with single rider say it is currently available. Anyone on the ground to confirm?

Thanks!

Single Rider lines can vary ay to day as well. They don't have set periods that they have them open versus closed. A lot of times it's based on how busy the park is. I have been there on trips and had certain single rider lines open on day but close the next

Single Rider also can be turned on and off during the same day. This happened several times in December 2021 for Velocicoaster, where the SR line would be “full” and thus closed for a while. This could be the case for other rides too, however most were open for the entirety of my visit.
I agree. Recently while visiting, Hagrid’s single rider line was closed. We contemplated what you do instead since the regular standby line wait was so long. Then as we were about to move along, they reopened SR line.

Thanks everyone! This leads to another question I have. I've done Express pass everytime I've visited the parks (7+ visits). I'm going on a solo trip for the first time ever (wife is incredible and allowing me to check off a "bucket list" of mine to experience a few day solo vacation (I chose Universal). I'm visiting 1/24 to 1/27 at cabana bay and intend to visit the parks for 3 days to really take everything in. I'm debating if I need to purchase Express during my 3 day visit or take advantage of single rider lines where possible. I'm still taking advantage of early entry. Express is about $127 extra per day. It's something I can afford but also don't enjoy wasting money when I could instead enjoy an extra meal, drink, etc.

Shouldn't need EP. Single rider lines are generally just as short, when they're open. That is a slower time (in theory).

Main rides you won't be able to single rider:
Hogwarts Express (probably be your longest waits)
Simpsons
Kong
Minions
Seuss Trolly, ET or any of the Kiddie / carnival type rides
RRR (has single rider but it can be dreadfully slow)
Water rides (maybe not an issue in Jan)
Shows
Fast & Furious / Jimmy Fallon

It shouldn't be hard to fit all those in multiple times if you use common sense - hit early / late and keep an eye on the wait times in the App midday. Probably find short waits for most that list even midday, with your dates.

Also should be extra slow in the parks if you end up with a crummy weather day. EP would be money flushed down the toilet in thadt case.

Keep in mind the single rider lines also skip most/all of the queue in most cases. This matters most for Gringotts (elevator preshow). But also means much shorter walks to the loading platforms.

I would wait until you arrive and see what the lines are like. Since you're going on your own and can take advantage of single ride lines no issue I'd try to just utilize them and see how regular waits are for other rides. If you decide you need it can add it on. Might be nice to have for the third day to be able to freely go around and hit everything you want to again before you leave, but likely won't need it for all three days
