What would be the best resort to stay at for a single parent? Is the transportation better at any specific resort? Does anyone have any tips on a single parent taking their kids to Disney? I'm a little nervous about doing this. My kids are 14 and 6.

I guess it would depend in part on what you are comfortable with financially.
We have had really good times at CB, BWV, BCV, AKL and OKW, I guess I would say BWV or AKL.

If you are not looking for a *special* room, just go with the value. IMO, ASMO is the one that is actually themed for disney. Not sports, music, or pop culture. Thats just my 2 cents. As far as being nervous goes, relax. You are a single parent every day. Your vacation ones will just be more fun and special. In the 90's I took my dd (age was between 3 and 9 at the time) by myself, as twice was enough for my DH, and he didnt think we should waste the money for him to go just to tag along. So he'd stay home and chill, and dd and I would go for the weekend. Big fun, never a bad trip. This was easy for us as we live less than 300 miles away. Relax and enjoy yourselves

My hubby hates all things Disney  but that doesn't stop us from having Mother daughter trips :)

I don't know your budget but we had a great time at the moderate POFQ andy ou would have a little more elbow room there than the values.

We are, however, in love with AKL. ::yes::

Beach CLub & WL were nice too.

Thanks!

Cass, I LOVE your bunnies :rotfl2:

I stayed a day longer to go to the MNSSHP... it was a challenge with the stroller.. but other than that.. it was fine.. next time.. I will just take an unmbrella stroller!

I'm a single mom and DD5 and I have stayed at values, moderates, and deluxes together. They've all been great. It really just depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend. If I plan on being at the parks all day and only using the room to sleep and shower in, then I stay at a value. If I plan on spending a lot of time at my resort, then I'll go deluxe.

I went last month with a 5 yo and 2-1/2 yo. I had to stay at a monorail resort because I had a double stroller and I know my girls well enough to know that they would both pass out and I would have trouble getting on a bus with a stroller and 2 sleeping kids. It was much easier than I thought it would be. Since your kids are older, you can pretty much stay at whatever resort appeals to all of you. And with the ages of your kids, your youngest should be able to ride almost all the rides.

I'm a single mom. My son and I have stayed at All Star Sports and Pop Century.

I book the value resorts so that we can do all the extras. (dining plan, ten night stay, Cirque, Fireworks cruise..) :cool1:
