Single Night Studio - Chances?

Okay, so I already have 9 nights booked @ SSR in early June (Thursday - Following Saturday). Looking at flights, it appears to be cheaper to book a flight the afternoon/evening before.

Originally, DW and I were going to try and Priceline something near the airport for around $45-50. I realized that we currently have 12 points left (in fact those would need to be borrowed from Aug 2011 use year). Adding on the Wednesday night at SSR would be 15 points, so it would be $45 to get the one-time use points to finish that out, so a bit of a wash there.

Out of nowhere, DW says "why don't we stay at one of the other DVC properties for that one night like AKV or something?" So here I am looking over the point chart and I take down the studios with less than 15 points.

At this point, what would you say are my chances at the following for a Wednesday in early June? (Listed in order of preference, though I suspect AKV Value is a long shot)

• AKV Value - 10
• AKV Standard - 13 ($15 extra for 1 one-time point)
• BWV Standard - 14 ($30 extra for 2 one-time points)
• OKW - 13 ($15 extra for 1 one-time point)

I would think your odds of getting in one night at one of those resorts would be pretty good.

I think getting a 1 night here and there would be easier than getting a set of nights.
I would definitely waitlist for them. You can do 2 wl so pick your top 2 and cross your fingers...

We just got our 2 nights for May after being on wl for about 10 days or so.

You should able to get it.

We had the same issue when we decided to fly and adding the extra day before and after.

We called got what we wanted in July.

If it comes down to waitlist, how does that work when it comes to one-time use points? Do I only get charged for the points if the WL comes through, or do I need to buy the points before being allowed on the WL?

We did the same thing on our last trip. We were booked with a MK view at BLT... in searching for airfare, we found that we could save alot by adding another night to the start of the trip. We were at the 7 month mark, BLT MK view was not available for another night, but lake view was. I figured, if we have to change villas, lets try another resort... VWL was available. we hadn't stayed there yet... it gave us a chance to experience it for a night. We loved it... especially breakfast at Whispering Canyon cafe.(we had only had dinner there prior)

Bell services will transport your luggage to the 2nd resort.

BTW... That trip, we booked Direct flights for $124. round trip from Rochester, NY! This year the Direct Flight is costing us $139. each way!

No luck on the AKV Value, though I suspected as much. Got the AKV Standard, though...
