Single night hotel recommendation?

We're going to be staying at an off-site hotel for a single night. So we're really just looking for a cheap place to lay our heads. It should be close enough to walk or take a shuttle and have free parking. But we don't care about having a lot of space (there's only three of us) and have no need for a pool. Any thoughts?

I'm curious if anyone has pics of the Alpine Inn and/or a review?

Thanks in advance!

I stayed at the Alpine Inn a couple of years ago. It's one of the original motels that were built around the time the Park opened, and looks like a mountain ski lodge on the outside (with concrete "snow" and "icicles" on the roof), so it gets some bonus points for the kitsch factor. It was alright, nothing fancy, but I don't think I'd stay there again due to them losing my reservation & there being other places to stay that cost less and are closer.

Have you considered the Anaheim Plaza hotel? It's also an older hotel, but it's alot closer (about a 12 minute walk); rooms usually go for around $49-$59 a night; here's a link: http://www.anaheimplazahotel.com .

Thanks so much! We went ahead and booked there. Found a great map online showing the proximity of all the hotels, checked cost on every one listed within walking distance and the Anaheim Plaza was a good deal cheaper. Should work great for us as we only need a place to lay our heads one time. Thanks for your suggestion!

We spent 2 nights at the Anaheim Plaza mid Sept. ~ it was a fine place at a great price ~ I'd stay there again. Have a great time.

Yay! I'm sure you'll be happy with your choice; I enjoyed my stays at Anaheim Plaza much more than my stay at Alpine Inn...it's closer, bigger, and cheaper :thumbsup2

Here's a pic I took of a room I stayed in there last year:

It was on the second floor (AP has only 2 floors, but is a fairly large hotel), with a balcony. It was BIG and comfortable. I'm surprised that the AP isn't more popular...it's older, but it's close & the price is right! The pool is great, too...it's HUGE!

Have fun on your trip!!!

Unless the hotel is one accross the street on Harbor, it is not avisable to walk. Although it seems close enough to walk there, at the end of the day or even to go back mid-day, it is a very long walk after spending the walking throughout the park. Some of the hotels accross the street include parking and some charge extra. If this is a worry, then I would suggest a hotel a few miles away, drive to the park and pay for parking. The parking structure is very well designed and provides transportation right up to the begining of Downtown Disney.

Thanks again Spacemermaid! I'm not too concerned about the walk. We will have a vehicle, so we could always send an adult back to the hotel to get the car and come get the others, but I imagine we'll be ok as we're only doing Disney two days. I can see being too worn out to do a 12-minute walk after day three of walking Disney, but I think we can bite the bullet and do it when we're only going to be doing two days. It's astonishing, though, how much cheaper the Anaheim Plaza is compared to hotels on either side of it. I know it'll be older, but the room looks just fine with me. I'd be much more picky if we were going to spend more nights there....

Yeah! I can't wait. I last went to Disneyland 15 years ago as a college student and now this will be my 5-year old son's first Disney experience. I think the Nightmare Before XMas Haunted Mansion will be a highlight for him... (if he's not too scared...??).

Thanks!

We stayed at the Super 8 on Katella (further away than the AP) for 2 nights and had no problem walking to the park and back both days. I don't think I would have wanted to do the walk any more than 3 days but for 2 it was fine so I'm sure you'll be fine walking. Have a fun trip!
