As a recently "singled" guy, one that just moved back to the great state of California and one that immediately upon arrival purchased an annual pass to the Happiest Place on Earth, I was shocked to find - or not find as the case may be - that there is not some sort of Singles organization for 30 to 40-something Disneyland Annual Pass holders.

Now this is a pretty silly message if an organization already exists. And if it does, you should stop reading this message right after you share the great news.

Because what better place to meet new people than Disneyland? Name a less threatening place to introduce yourself to someone for the first time than Disneyland. Is there another place? No, only Disneyland.

There must be 10 - 20 folks out of the 13+ million in the Orange/Riverside/ Los Angeles county areas that have been single for a while or are just recently “singled” that - after the dust settled in whatever the situation was - still held on to their Disneyland Annual Passes. If not that, there is likely a handful or three of 30 – 40 year old single folks that have thought to themselves:

"Boy, I could use a night out. Hmmm, I've got nobody (right now) to go out with. Rolling solo at the club doesn’t sound fun. You know what sounds nice? An evening at Disneyland, that's what. Grab a bite to eat. See some fireworks. Walk around a bit. You know, I've been meaning to get an Annual Pass. A Pass sure would come in handy right now."

Why doesn't he/she get an annual pass, you might ask? Perhaps it's because the one thing that would make that evening at Disneyland complete is a soft/strong hand to hold, a bending ear to listen to how things are going or maybe just a warm body to fill in another seat at the table.

Where better to find that hand to hold, that ear to listen or that “seat-filling warm body” than right here?

No, I'm no Dr. Warren of eHarmony fame. I can't offer a 150-point personality profile, or whatever it is, to ensure compatibility. I'm just a 30-something (35 this month, if you must know) guy that just moved back to the state of his youth, running to or from whatever, still somewhat nice to look at but super tired of club-thing. I'm all clubbed out.

One thing I know that Dr. Warren doesn't is, how much more like-minded-ness or compatibility do two people need to start a conversation, a budding friendship and “who knows after that” than a mutual love for that crazy place called... Disneyland?

Truth be told, Walt would have seen this as an opportunity to do provide a great service to those that could use it in these changing times. It's just not as easy being single today as it was "back in the day." And obviously it would be a better organization with Mickey at the helm (he could ensure oversight, funding, etc.) but the only way to get the attention of the Powers-That-Be is a grass roots effort.

Well it doesn't get anymore grass roots than this.

...there is an organization, Mickey does run it, it looks well funded and Blah-Blah-Blah. Dismates? Who knew?

Anyway, I'm heading over to the park. The weekend whistle has blown.

If you're walking around Disneyland tonight, don't forget to stop by and say, "Hi."

That would be me...

Moving back to the great state of California and promising my DS an annual pass...

We should start our own club.....

Well, Darlin'...our club seems to be you and me strong. Add your children and that's 4. It's a start.

I am not an avid message board writer/reader. This is my first and only attempt. That said what does "DS" mean? I guess it doesn't matter but it would be helpful to know such things.

We get the "club" up to 6 or so (adults) and we'll have to try to schedule a Downtown Disney Club Meeting. And while my brain does not automatically default to kids, of course kids are welcome. We're the 20 - 40 crowd, excluding singles with kids would be just plain silly.

Glad to have met you. Hope you respond again.

DS - Darling son
Disney son

DD -Darling Daughter, Disney Daughter..'

You will see many of them on these boards. MIL- mother in law

ETC. Just think for a moment and you will realize it..

I have another one for the club. My best freind..

See ya one day..

Writer04, do you mean by this that there is a Disney-run singles organization or are you just kidding? If you were serious, could you tell us more about it?
Thanks!

nah hes serious lol...as soon as I read it i went on the website and registered...not having much luck though :guilty: nobodys on the chat board :sad2:

I woefully am single as well *sighs* and love disneyland soooooo much...maybe we should start our own disboards club...they have a singles one for wdw??? thats a thought :scratchin

We are well on our way. Who knew?

Okay, I'll be the first...my name really isn't Writer04. While I am a writer and my favorite number is 4, that's not my name. For now on...y'all can call me Robert. As it turns out, Robert is my real name.

[Correction] If disneegrl4eva's name is Lynn...she was first and not me. Wouldn't want to be considered a "credit hog."

First let me write that I appreciate the online acronym lessons. I bet there are lots of folks that say they don’t understand and are fibbing. Not the case with me. I have been concentrating on other things. The online chat and message board thing is new for me. Anyway, I appreciate it.

I honestly didn't think anyone would respond so I have no clever "meeting people" scheme planned out. Shame on me. But I have been thinking about it for about 45 seconds now and it occurs to me that a grand scheme really isn't necessary.

Here's what we could do...

When our little group gets to - say - 7 southern California-area adult singles between the ages of [Correction] 20 [30, but of course we wouldn't discriminate] and 40, we'll simply plan a La Brea Bakery Meet (we’ll start with Downtown Disney so those that may not already have an Annual Pass can still participate).

We can figure out if an After Work Meet works or perhaps a Saturday Brunch Meet. Details….details.

I don't know...that's not bad for less-than-a-minute of thinking.

?

I'd be in for that..

Small problem... Not arriving in CA till the end of August and not purchasing season pass till end of Sept.
So see you all then.

That's not even a small problem. Let's recap, shall we?

Today is August 2. On July 28 (5 little days ago) a message was sent into the vast Internet abyss intended to unite new and existing single Disneyland Annual Pass Holders. In those five days, our community has 2 (9 if you count kids, AZ residents, a possible “best friend” addition and you – on your way).

Pretty impressive. This Internet-thing might have a future.

And of course we’ll see you then.

princess:

I'm on this board almost everyday. So just post a note.

ok singles my turn....had to work late yesterday so I couldnt come on :guilty: but here I am today :) my name is Lynn and I live in central cali, Merced to be exact..I am single and have been what seems like forever :confused3 I just turned 41 last week :scared1:man these things come way to fast for me anymore...I have a 19 soon to be 20 yo daughter who, *big sigh* and I hate to say it but she is not the disney freak I am  I dont know where I went wrong...I raised her better than that...we went in March and I took her and even paid for everything including her 5 day hopper and would you believe this? she barely went 2 days :furious: you know what i could have done at the park with that money? anyway I know I dont live in So Cali but I still live in cali and come down often...I have family in Moreno Valley so that should count for something...anyway Robert your a hoot...I just want to hang out with you at disneyland...you'd be a blast :lmao:

I must confess that I am not as much a Disney-freak-like character as I just like Disneyland…a lot. It’s just a great place to be. I temporarily live in Riverside – very close to Moreno Valley Lynn – but work in Irvine. I am an Orange County guy and am in the process of buying a place in Fullerton (a little closer to work).

As mentioned before, I just moved back to California and all of the people I once knew are either gone or have lives I don’t know anything about. It’s the price you pay for leaving, I guess.

Since I work in Irvine and, when I roll, I roll solo most of the time, Disneyland is the place I go. If you need to be around people but don’t have any people of your own, what better place to go? It’s real easy to get lost there.

I didn’t want to lead on that I am about all things Disney. I am not big on the movies and other stuff (though I enjoy them).

I do have a significant collection of Eeyore coffee cups. Lovin’ that Eeyore. Since I was a kid. Eeyore is my guy. Nothing better than sharing your morning coffee with me and Eeyore...that's what I always say.

And thanks Lynn. Of the many things I am called in a day, “a hoot” sounds pretty good. I’m above-average, I guess. Just an above-average guy with average tastes livin’ an average life.

Speaking of that, and though not a requirement for entrance into our newly formed group, I am looking for a picture that I can scan and post. I am pretty new to this whole message board-thing. I imagine it would be best if everyone could put a face with the name.

It’s harder to make this happen than you might think. I don’t take pictures of myself very often. Never fear, I have a sister – 10 years my younger – that will help me out.

Anyway, it probably doesn’t matter but I thought it could be a good idea.

I also noticed that the Single Disneyland Pass Holders Unite link is falling down on the list. In order to continue our success, I am going to repost – start a new one – on Monday. I think I’ll call it Single So Cal DL Pass Holders– More Seats Available.

312 folks – last I checked – have viewed our thing. While good, you’d think more folks would post. Perhaps getting ourselves back to the top of the list would be good.

Once a PR-guy always a PR-guy, I guess.

I am SRN (single raising niece) and have an annual passport. I live in Northern CA though, so I can't just "swing by" for a few hours like I'd like to do.

...he's not much to look at but, that's him.

So I call my sister - again, she's 10 years my junior - and make up some story about why I would need a picture of me scanned and saved. "I need it for a temporary web site I'm working on for a client," I said and I told her I didn't need it until sometime this weekend. The last thing I need is for my sister - who still thinks I walk on water, even after all these years - to know that I am a regular writer to a message board. Oh bother.

Now my sister is mini- and cuter-me. We look very much alike, many of the same features anyway, and look nothing like our parents. My theory is the I came from the milk man and she came from the same milk man 10 years later. It's just a theory.

Anyway, she stops by the place yesterday evening with two pictures that she had, scanned and saved. She then says, "So if you need one for your user name, use the professional one we had done in May (that's the one you see). But if you need one that's just fun, use the other one (haven't figured out how to make that one happen. Any suggestions are welcome)."

As is the case with close sibblings, she knew what I needed the picture for all along. Bother.

Friday meetings are stupid but a reality. Let's try to keep the "Boy, you're really gray. Are you sure you're only 35" questions to a minimum, what do you say? Or the, "So that's quite a pose. You're a little old to start thinking about modeling, aren't you?" Or maybe the, "Who dresses you? You're Mom?"

What can I say? Mom still likes the yearly family pictures. So, yes, I am afraid she did dress me.

LET THE LAUGHTER BEGIN.

Why should we Laugh...???

But if you really want me to...

:rotfl2:

:rotfl:

you suggested it. Not me.... :smooth:

:tink:

...because there was a significant drop in posts. I honestly don't know how this whole thing works.

Since our board dwindled a bit, I took the picture down.

I really didn't think it was going to be noticed. My bad.
