I tried to plan dining ressies for my trip in December looking for just 1 person. Nothing. I changed the search to 2 people and lots opened up. What's up with that??? Of course I'm going to call.

Book it. When you check in you can adjust how many are coming by 1 person it told me in the app. You are still getting a table whether it's just you or 2 people.

I was just there with my mom for a weekend & saw that when checking in for our ADRs. Usually I am a solo traveler so now I know to just book & adjust later.

exactly. Book for two and then say you have one when you get there. you won't have any better luck if you call.

That's exactly what I do all the time. I figure that either DH might surprise me and show up, or else just maybe I'll meet someone that morning that I want to offer to share a meal with. However, in 20+ solo trips, neither has happened, so I show up as a solo, and all the previous posters are correct-I've never been charged.

Disney's computers hate single people. They think waiting for a party of 2 to book the table will result in more income.

Unfortunately, booking for 2 and fixing it later is the best solution.

I just traveled solo and it stinks to wrestle with ADRs. In my limited experience (only there for 4-5 days). there was not a noticeable difference when I looked for ADRs for 1 vs. 2. I generally found what I wanted when I entered 1. If I got a reservation and it wasn't the time I wanted, I'd search for close by times for 1, then 2, and then 4 - and nothing ever shifted. When I didn't get the ADR I wanted at all, I did the same thing (change times, # of people) and still things didn't open up for me. So, it could be that the places I looked at (resorts, DHS, EP, DAK) weren't going through that issue at the time (I don't doubt the folks who've had good history adapting their party number and finding something suddenly). I did end up booking 1 ADR for 2 - I placed that in my TP reservation finder as a default, thinking that maybe they'd find that instead of 1 (I didn't try 1 as a control or anything) and that ADR did become available the week of my trip. I booked it and then modified to 1. Good luck!

I have been doing it for years now. I always wanted to try Ohana and could never get an ADR, until I switched it to 2.

For ADRs, an odd number does not work well.
When I went as a solo diner, looking for a party of 2 gave me many more options.

YMMV - I got Ohana several times (kept changing my park plans), including day of because I wanted to sleep in, as only 1 (though maybe it's a difference of meals? I only tried Ohana for breakfast, though the other ADRs were for B/L/D)

FYI if you try to book a package, get ready to to be on the phone for several hours. I wanted to do the Rose & Crown fireworks package in 2019, and the site would NOT let me book the package for 1--because they "openings" are programmed to show by tabletop, and there are no one-seaters for the event. It took me about 3 hours with four different cast members to finally book a seat for one. They dragged a tiny table into the corner of the patio for me 😂 which worked out because I had a very good view. I was booking for one because my husband was originally supposed to go with me but got deployed. I put an iPad on the table and we did a video call for virtual dinner date. 🥰
