Hey...sorry if this is in the wrong place, but it IS a trip report...but we didn't stay at a hotel.

This was for Monday, July 14. My mom and I went to Universal Studios for our first "Girls Day" (a day without Dad!)!!

We went to the park and got preferred parking for a change and then saw a church bus cut in front of us heading towards preferred parking. I noticed an employee use a walkie-talkie to contact security.

So, we were behind this bus heading up the ramp and right as we got to the parking garage...they noticed they didn't have enough clearing!! ARGH!! Here we are, stuck on a ramp with no where to go but into the parking garage...and the bus is blocking it!

Well, security had to back up at least 12 to 15 cars down the ramp and around a curve just so the bus could get out. Many people behind us ended up going ahead of us and we got a parking spot pretty far back (grrr)!!

But we didn't let this get to us for too long...today we were going to see the Ghostbusters Show many times!!!

We got to the park at least 20 minutes late instead of one time (thanks to the bus). We headed straight tothe Express machines to get Express for Shrek (Mom was in stationary seating last time, when we took Grandma). The line was backed up a bit and took maybe 5 minutes to get to the machine. The earliest time slot I could get was 6:10 PM!! There was only a 15 minute time slot instead of the usual 1 hour.

After that we headed over to Men in Black, knowing people we starting with the new rides. Sure enough, 5 minute wait at our favorite ride at Universal...a appose to Shrek's already 45 minute wait.

We went into single rider but then noticed the regular line was practically empty and slid under the ropes to get in. We then just stayed in single riders for another 4 rides.

We then headed to Back to the Future and had our first line. We stood there thinking we'd wait for about ten minutes (oh the TORTURE!!! Right?? lol)
and what do we hear? "How many people in your party? How many?" An employee went down the line asking for how many people and when he got to us, we responded "two." And guess what! He needed two people!!! So we bypassed this line as well and headed onto BTTF right away!!

Well we did all this in about an hour time. And we noticed it was getting rather close to 11:00. (well maybe it was 20 minutes till) so we headed to the Main Attraction for us: Ghostbusters Show!!! We got there by 11 AM and I steaked my spot with my little seat cusion and purse. We always get there 30 minutes early at least. My mom gave advice to a mom and 2 teenage girls who had never seen the show (come! it's better up front!) They LOVED it! I saw them take out the camera a few times and laugh. I even heard someone whistle at the guys! This was the most involved crowd I've seen and Loved it!!

We went back to the car to get a soda (my mom hates buying sodas...too expensive) and by the time we got back it was near the 30 minute wait for Ghostbusters Show again and so we went straight to the spot we were at before. Saw the show again. Good as ever!

We then left to go to Horror Makeup Show. There was a female with medium-short brown hair who played Alex. A new guy I had never seen before (and I've seen this show a lot too...this is my 2nd favorite show...after you know what!!) played Mark James. These two as a team were HYSTERICAL! They interacted well together and everything! It was funny when the guy was trying to get the audience involved sometimes.
-------------------------------------------
ie - Alex: "Ladies and gentlemen, one of the side effects of Viagra"
Mark James: "But it's worth it...right guys??"
A Guy in audience: "YEAH!!!!!!!"
-------------------------------------------

We then went to Hard Rock and got my Bodacious Buffalo Chicken Tenders. We carried them into Universal so my mom could get something at Cafe La Bamba (?) which gives you a LOT for the price (compared to other Universal places.) I definately recommend this place.

For about $12 my mom got: chicken drumstick, thigh, and breast, fries, a cornbread, large soda, and a huge slice of chocolate cake. She had shared this meal with 2 others before. They were all satisfied with their portions. My mom got another cornbread for $1.29. A side of fries seperately is $1.99. They also serve ribs there. It's located across the street from Horror Makeup Show (diagnol from Mel's), Looks like it's an expensive and NICE restaurant from the outside, but inside it's a cafe; casual yet with delicious food.

We ended up going back to another Ghostbusters Show but arrived a bit later than usual (about 5-10 minutes before the show started) so we had terrible view and the entire crowd was standing up in the street! Come on people, sit! sit!! We could see alright, but like our "usual spot" better.

We then went to the last showing for the day and sat down in our usual spot. This time it started to sprinkle and we heard thunder in the distance. The clouds came closer and closer as the time and wait continued. But the show must go on! And Ghostbusters finished just in time...it started pouring shortly after.

We headed to the Universal Studios Store and saw some things I want for my room (you know, because I want to become a film director...a nice Universal Clapper would be nice...and the camera shaped tape dispenser...) and then went to get a soda (we were thirsty and didn't want to walk back to the car in the pouring rain). It was then about time to go on Shrek. We went on and Mom enjoyed it with the motion. She even noticed some things she didn't before. I still DON'T like the spiders!!!! *shudders* I KNOW they are animated and all! But geez! I found out how much of a phobia I have of spiders from that ride!!! lol.

We rode Men in Black 2 more times (line was longer and the Express ticket lady shoved some people into single riders...which is rude because people think it's a regular line because she wouldn't let them into the regular line...thus making Single Riders Line backed up to like a 20 minute wait!!! In fact, she shoved a family with a girl about 6 or 7 years old in that line! An older employee saw this girl when he passed them in line and let the dad go with her. At least he had some common sense.)

We left early since we are going again soon. I had a blast!!!! Hoping to have another "Girl's Day" soon!!!

Thanks for the great report (and yes, I'd say it belongs here)! ;)

I'm glad you mentioned that there are scarey spiders on Shrek since my daughter is absolutely terrified of spiders and I'll be able to warn her ahead of time so she doesn't freak out!

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!
