I know there are some who feel left out when they are all alone at WDW. I know the feeling when you are walking through the parks seeing all those happy families laughing and running along, trying to see everything. Being single isn't that horrible. From my experience, I found it easy to ride Maelstrom in the Norwegian WS pavilion. They put me right up front in the middle even though I was at the end of the line! (one warning, you will get wet up front!) On Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, they made me get on first and then, filled the other cars in. I have NEVER seen them do that before. At the Haunted Mansion, for some reason, it's scarier when you're in the car all by yourself. I saw some obviously married couples split up for that very reason. Also, at Test Track, if it isn't too busy, they even have a singles line and it USUALLY runs faster than even the FastPass line! The only thing that made me mad was a family cheated the line by having one kid stand in line and hold a spot for the other three. I was glad that they didn't get to sit together even though the father looked a bit peeved (hey, you were asking to get caught so wipe that grumpy frown off your face fool! )

For those who feel claustrophobic, going alone can help. The Grand Prix cars feel much larger when someone isn't riding with you. The seats on Big Thunder Mountain RR also feel so spacious that you feel the urge to stretch your arms out. And of course, squeezing through very tight crowds is TONS easier. You might be surprised. Does anyone else have any stories about visiting the parks alone? Did you enjoy it or not? Why?

Have been to WDW solo several times and LOVE it!!! I really do enjoy going with family, but there is such a sense of freedom going solo. You get to go where you want, when you want. You can dine where and when you want. You can ride an attraction 20 times or skip it altogether. You get to wander the parks at your own pace and not have to worry about keeping up with people. I like to get to the parks early in the morning, then just take my time strolling down the main streets that you go down when you first enter the parks, listening to the soft music playing in the background.

I am usually a golf widow for parts of the days when we are at WDW. And yes, I do go to the parks alone. I go to the attractions that I know my DH isn't crazy about - ie Little Mermaid. And I love taking photos, so I can stop as often as I want and take as many pics as I want without getting left behind and he continues to walk! I have my favorites for "alone" time, MGM used to be my favorite, but I've also gone to the others for hours solo. It isn't so bad. Don't know that I would want to go for several days solo, but this plan works for us - DH golfs, I park, and then there is time to do whatever we want together.

I found myself going on a solo trip a few years ago after a friend bailed out at the last minute and I decided that I was still going to enjoy a vacation - with or without her. :teeth: I loved it! I never felt lonely and I did what I wanted, when I wanted. I'm taking another solo trip by myself next month - this time the solo part is intentional. :thumbsup2

I actually want to try this on our next trip. Since dh gets burned out much sooner than I, I figure I will have him take our son for a few hours or a day while I enjoy the park alone. I think it would be wonderful!

Do you usually stay on site when you go solo. I've never gone by myself, although have been there tons of time with my family. I think about a solo trip once in awhile, although it seems appealing Ive just never gotten up the nerve/courage to do so.

I can only dream of a solo trip, love my kids, but love the idea of WDW alone, just once.

Going solo is a secret fantasy of mine! I'm not ready to do it because my little one is still little, but maybe some day! I say enjoy what you can do when you can do it.

I went semi-solo in March for the first time. I met DD at CSR, where she had a convention, and spent days in the parks by myself and met up with her in the evenings. I really enjoyed it; so much so that I am thinking of an early Sept trip for a few days all by myself. I will definitely stay onsite, maybe at the Dolphin since I love Epcot, or FW. Depends on what's available. It was fun to people-watch, explore nooks and crannies, and do what I wanted when I wanted.

Another golf widow here! I go solo once a year, but I go with DH once a year. And since I'm a golf widow then, I'm almost always solo in the parks. DH golfs every day (occassionally, he takes one day off). At this point, I don't know what it's like to be with others in the parks (although I had plenty of years of that). I agree, solo's great! If you visit the adults and solos board, you'll find there are plenty of others who agree too.

I always stay on Disney property when I go to WDW, whether I am going solo or with family. When I go solo, I never rent a car or go off Disney property, so I use Disney transportation. I'm also an avid reader, so I always have a book with me in my backpack. I find this takes away any awkwardness of dining solo, as well as helps pass the time while waiting for a parade or a show to start.
