Single and no kids....DVC a good option?

I'm in the same situation - single, no kids and the 'cool aunt'. I purchased at OKW and BWV a few years ago and it's been great ... so great that I also added on to AKV! One of the reasons that I like it is the flexibility (room types and locations) - it's a good fit for almost anyone. I've taken family many times and I've also travelled solo. Next year I'm planning a trip with a group of friends. I can't talk about the tour since I purchased my original 2 contracts from resale and the AKV contract was done over the phone. I can honestly say that it was one of the best decisions that I've ever made.

I am 42 single with no kids and have been a DVC member for 4 years..... best thing that I have ever done.
I take the nephews sometimes (great special occasion gifts)... other times I go alone.... and also, I have invited friends to come on down.
In addition, I have gone to Paris and California.... great to travel alone and non exactly what to expect when I get there..... Disney through and through

I am 36 years old, no children, and single. I am the "cool Aunt" who takes everyone on vacation.

I'm also 36 years old, single with no children. I am the "cool Aunt" that takes my two neices,4 & 7,on vacation, along with my DS and DBL. I've also gone with my brother and his son, twice. I love to stay in the deluxe resorts, and with a party of five, these were the only resorts that could accomodate us.
So, after much debating, I bought a dvc resale in Dec 06. I haven't had a second thought about it. I am planning my first trip home this Dec. and many future trips too.:dance3:

Wow! So I guess there ARE alot of singles like me who made the plundge! Good to know I'm not such a weirdo after all . . . well MAYBE . . . :lmao:

Wow!! And here I was my only real reason I could come up with was that I was too old and too single!!! Well you have all turned my mind right around and now I can't wait!! What was I even thinking? Or why was I doing too much thinking?? Thank you all so much!

Another "Cool Aunt" here. Single 44 y/o no kids. I have 19 nieces and nephews, so they all get a turn to go with me. Have taken friends and done a mother/daughters trip.

I bought in in 2005 and love every minute I'm there. I'm holding out for a Contemporary DVC.

Single Mature (make that over 50) Female who bought DVC early in 1992 and has never regretted it! I joined with my DBF (Disney Best Friend) another single mature female. We love it.:cool1: :thumbsup2

I just wish that I could have afforded to add on again and again and again.
We took my parents, sister and her then teen/tween kids the first year and had a ball. We all went back again several years later teen/tween then in college and youngest in high school. And again had a ball.

You don't have to be married or have kids to love Disney and certainly not to join DVC. We have stayed in other DVC resorts, hotels, NYC and DCL on points. There is no way that we could afford any of that without our DVC membership.:woohoo:
Go for it!!

While I'm married with 4 kids, I've stayed at Old Key West many times by myself with work---and always in a one bedroom. The next time you visit, stay in a DVC resort--I'd strongly suggest a one bedroom and pay cash for it. if you like the room SO much that you would stay there the next time you came back--and pay that price, the DVC may well make sense for you. The other piece of the puzzle is visit frequency. If you think you'll come down at least every other year for the foreseeable future, it will be a great use of your money.

Yes, the flexibility gives you lots of auntly options but I think you should do it for YOU.

37 and single, no kids. Just bought at SSR last month and looking forward to being the "Cool Uncle" to three beautiful neices! (once they are out of diapers, that is!!) Is there such a thing as too old and too single?? LOL!
I say take the time to do the tour in August, prior to visiting the parks. When I did, they gave me some "Fastpass bypass" cards (you slide the card in and your return time is NOW!) -- definitly worth it for just doing the tour.
Since I like to go for 3 or 4 days at a clip, DVC just seemed a right fit. And, it's just like financing a car...only you might only get 10 years out of a car before you're financing again! Ned

Heck yeah!!! :)
single, had my points since 2000... Wish I have more $ to add more... LOL!!! :lmao:

To add to the parade, I'm a single 40ish woman who just bought AKV yesterday. I second the recommendation for staying at one of the resorts. For this trip, I split my stay between SSR and AKL so that I could check out a DVC resort and see what AKL was like to get a idea on AKV. I also agree with the other posters on taking the tour. I was able to see the studio & 1 bedroom models for AKV along with the corresponding rooms in SSR.

I am 36 years old, no children, and single. I have 3 nieces/ 3 nephews ranging from 10-22 years old. I am the "cool Aunt" who takes everyone on vacation. Last year I took my youngest niece and stayed 4 nights at BW and 3 nights at AKL. She renewed my love of all things Disney (as if I needed coaxing) and so now this year we are doing a land/sea in August.
Not sure if marriage/kids are in my future but I am thinking of the DVC. One of the draws is that I like the Deluxe resorts and after reading so many posts, it seems that "in the long run" it may be the way to go.
Any feedback would be welcome...just wondering if the DVC would be a good fit for me...not sure of marriage/children in the future...not that it is a DVC pre- requisite!!
Thanks so much!

If you enjoy it, that should be all that matters.
