I dropped it right out of my pack onto the concrete outside the Boardwalk (Stupid, stupid, stupid me not having checked the zip after a shoot). My heart was in my throat as I saw it laying there on the pavement...
And it's perfect! Not broken, not even scratched. I took a whole bunch of shots to check it. Everything looks good.

A good wake up call to me to always, always check that pack.

 :scared1: whew!!! Glad its ok and no damage done. I had my 55-200VR roll out of my bag a few days ago when I put the back pack on the couch after getting the camera out to retrieve the memory card. Luckily it rolled onto a carpeted floor and no damage done but it sure put my heart in my throat and taught me to always close the bag before I lay it down somewhere. A funny side note to this post ... I wanted to type this post before I went to fill my coffee cup. I had the cup sitting in my lap and it just rolled out and shattered on the floor. It scared the daylights out of me bc I am typing about dropping lenses and breaking them and I hear glass breaking. It took me a second to realize it was just my coffee cup.:rolleyes1

What a lucky break (or should I say, lack of a break ;) ). Still waiting to see some shots from this new lens of yours...hopefully you've got some to share from your trip.

Glad to see you returned safe and sound....back to reality! Hope you had a great trip and looking forward to seeing some of your shots (even if your cute labs aren't in any of them). :goodvibes

I LOVE my Sigma 10-20. Great to have that kind of depth of field on a wide lens. I just got mine before our last trip, and I'm really just learning how to use it. Can't wait to take it west next summer to the Rockies.

Sheesh, glad it's ok. When I was in Hawaii a few months back I had forgot to zip up my pack and with my backpack on my back, I had my 70-200f/2.8L roll out and drop from chest height onto concrete.

It was fine. I couldn't believe it. So I know what you must have felt like. I've got the 10-20 as well. I would hate for it to get damaged. I love that lens.
