I've got the blues.......

For the last three years running I have been knee-deep in trip planning for early February. This morning as I was putting on my favorite Disney sweatshirt I realized I'm not going to WDW this February.....waaahhhh! How depressing is that!

:bounce::wave::bounce:

I'm not going anytime soon either, but I have fun planning it anyway.
I go through phases where I'll plan everything like I was going. :)

um - at this time last year I was thinking that by now we would be planning our Wilderness Lodge/WDW vaca for Oct 03. However, that wasnt to happen.
Now that we had a trip to PO/FQ instead we are once again planning a cruise for next Nov 03. WDW will happen hopefully in 04. So Im going 3yrs w/out planning a WDW vacation.

I love going to Disney but I love the planning. I am going in June, come H$ll or high water I did myself deep in debt but I have the theiry "Life is to short" so while I am here I am going to enjoy it. My 85 yr old father thinks I am nuts but hey, it works for me. :D :Pinkbounc

Gail T AGAIN, my theory is we will never be out of debt, you're always going to be paying off something, so why not be in debt for something that you enjoy...DISNEY WORLD! Sure the debt will last longer than the vacation, but the memories last a lifetime :)

I'm not currently planning a trip either :( DH says that I will have to pay for the next trip and in order for that to happen I have to finish school and get a job. I'm trying to convince him to at least put a deposit down so we can go next October or January so that way I will have insintive to try my hardest to finish...I certainly wouldn't want a trip to go to waste

DS and I were there during Christmastime last year. It feels weird to be staying home this year. :(

Maybe we should start our own band! ;) I just canceled our Disney cruise for May 2003 due to several circumstances. Over the holidays I'm going to make a pitch to my husband to drive down early December next year. I figure if we drive we'll save a bunch and the kids can see several states (when they're not sleeping). I hope we will all be planning our next trips in 2003!

When I feel blue about not having a trip planned I go shopping for something Disneyesque. Find a Disney store nearest you and shop till you drop! Good for the economy and good for your soul. :)

(and it's good for the 5 small people in my life, they always appreciate me shopping for Disney stuff! LOL)

No trip in our near future either.:( We're hoping to move in '03. :)

Maybe '04.....:(

The earliest for us is probably early 2005. :(

I'm actually glad that someone started this thread because I was starting to think that I was the only one who ever canceled or I was the only one that didn't go at least once a year! I feel a little better just knowing that. It's so expensive, especially tickets, that I don't know how some people do it. I love Disney but I also want my family to see other places. Fortunately/unfortunately there are a lot of vacations (overseas included) that are cheaper than Disney. Oh well, that won't stop me from trying to go to Disney serveral more times inbetween the other places that I want to take my kids. I thought Disney would be a one time thing for the kids now I can't wait to go back!

i love disney and i probably won't be going 'til 2005. it's still fun to plan, i just wish it wasn't so expensive with plane tickets, park tickets, hotel, etc. :earseek: i bet people would go a lot more often if they could afford it.

:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:  :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

it's comforting to know there are others like me out there. :D

We just returned on 12-14-02. I know it will be 2-3 years before I go back. It is sooooooo expensive. We went way over our budget, and I have been sick about it ever since. We did have fun, but something was missing, and I can't put my finger on what it was.

I should have your problems.

no vacation at all in 2002 because I was out of work for 3 months. no WDW vacation in 2003 because I'm planning my 12 year old's bat mitzvah. no WDW vacation in 2004 because I'll be recovering from the bat mitzvah. no WDW vacation in 2005 because of my 10 year old's bat mitzvah. maybe by 2006 I'll be able to go back to WDW. in the meantime, we'll be doing things like Hersheypark and Mystic Seaport and the like. fun stuff, but not the same as WDW.

not that planning a bat mitzvah is a bad thing, mind you. but if I make an appropriate party for each dd, it doesn't leave any money for a WDW vacation. but then again, a bat mitzvah is a once in a lifetime event.

sigh. I planted pennies in the back yard, but the moeny tree just didn't grow.

mhopset...how were the crowds. Sorry off topic but it's about the same time that we're looking at next year. I've been really worried about the Pop Warner/cheerleaders, etc. Just curious if I should rethink my time of year.

Briar Rose 7457...I know what you mean about years without a vacation. We've been fortunate enough to be able to do one each of the last two years but it was quite a few years' drought before that. We've started to auto deduct $10/week into a special account for vacations plus the kids and I have a huge jar we fill with left over change. It's not much but it makes us feel better--like we're on our way to getting our vacation! Also I'm hoping it teaches the kids a little about money along the way.

Also, I've been wanting to take the kids to Hershey Park--I used to go as school trips at least once a year. Last time I looked, they are starting to creep their way towards Disney prices!! Youch!

Welcome to my life.

I can't plan any vacation at all until 2005.
In fact, my husband and I have never taken a vacation alone together. We didn't even have a real honeymoon.

We had a quick weekend trip in 2002. But the rest of our vacation funds this year were spent building a 4th bedroom in the basement.

I'm not sure when we'll get to take another trip -- probably not until at least 2004 or 2005. I really hope to get at least one more "really big" vacation in the next 6 years when DS #1 leaves for graduation.

I'm not complaining though, there's too many good things going on.

It has been almost three years since we went too. Don't know when we will be able to go again. Right now we are kind of hoping for spring 2004! {{{{HUGS}}}}

As they say, misery loves company, glad to see I am not alone.

Since we are in Italy until 2005, I doubt we will to the World until at the very least 2006. I am trying really hard to convince DH to go to DLP, but he is refusing. He did tell me I could go alone with DS, but since it is a foreign country I don't know if I would feel comfortable taking my DS on my own, now if it was WDW I would go in a heartbeat, but Paris alone with a six year old is a little intimidating to me. Maybe I can change his mind some how.

(Carol....help! ;))

I know what you mean. Exactly one year ago we were on our way to our first-time-ever family trip to WDW. It was great fun planning and all the budget ideas I got from these boards.

This year I had to live vicariously by helping a friend plan her trip. I don't even know when we can start planning another trip as DS will be in college next year. Where there is a will there is a way though and we will go back. We may go to Disneyland next summer as both DSs would like to go to California for a graduation trip. I'm working on DH for that one.
