I read somewhere online, and can't find it now, of course, that it's an annual tradition to sing Happy Birthday to Disneyland each year on July 17th. We'll be there for our first DL trip during that time, and we thought if this really does happen, it might be kind of fun to be there for that. Is this true, and can anyone tell me where/when this happens if so? Thanks!

There's usually a time when they play Walt's opening day speech at the flag pole. If it happens, it would probably be there. Even if they don't sing, it could be fun to hear the speech played. I've seen them sing happy birthday to a character. Mickey in front of the castle one year (they haven't done this in a few years) followed by the characters riding in cars down Main St and one year the 24 hour day ended on Goofy's birthday so they sang at the train station while the characters waved goodbye.

I've been there a few times on the anniversary, but I can't say I recall the hb song being sung. We did go to Main Street and there was a big celebration with the fab 5, a big band, and a replaying of walt's opening day speech. It happened the few times I went in the afternoon, 3ish maybe. There were signs posted when we walked in with the exact time. I'm sure the schedule will show something if they still do it once that day opens up.
