Since when did Jen become Jenn?

That's because all those 30-somethings know at least 10 Jennifers. I swear my sister has at least 10 friends named Jennifer or a variation.

I like Stephanie. Steph for short. It's cute. It's way better than just plain Beth. If my name was Elizabeth I would go by that. Never Beth. I should legally change it.

LOL I am in the Junior League and the committee I am on this year has 7 woman, 3 of us are Jennifers and we are all the same age.

I'm Jennifer. My mother always taught me not to let anyone call me Jenny (too old ladyish). I love my name. My mom named me this before the trend hit big (gives my age range a bit away ).

When I was in kindergarten I wrote Jenn on a few papers because Jen made no sense to me. Jenn looked prettier and looked more like my real name (five year old logic). But to this day I hate when I see anything spelled Jen.

My parents named me for the song "Jennifer" by Donavan and my husband loves that. All my friends and family say when they hear the name Jennifer, I am definitely "the" Jennifer they think of. I know it's a good thing and am flattered that everyone likes to try to have my name.

My mom chose Jennifer because she thought it was "unique" As there were 8 babies born in the hospital and SIX were Jennifers, I have to wonder. My dad wanted "Kirsten" and growing up, I wished to God some days that they had picked that.

I was Jennifer for years and then "Jenni". Then "Jenee" (pronounced like Jenny, not like Renee) and then in HS it was back to "Jenni". Then in college it became Jenn. I guess I just like the way it looks better, as opposed to Jen. I can say I am definitely among the hordes who hate being called Jenny now. ..a few weeks ago, I bumped into someone from HS who called me that and I just bristled. The only person who can call me Jenny is DH and that is because he's sweet about it ("My Jenny"). Growing up my Dad used to call me Neffer and Neff and I hated it. Now, I get a kick out of when he does that.

At work, it's mostly Jennifer to people I don't know well and Jenn to everyone else. And how obnoxious is this? When I sign my name "Jenn" at the end of an email, I actually put a period after it as though it's an abbreviation for Jennifer...! I guess I must just feel like my name is important enough to be a complete sentence, eh?

It's weird though...that one letter makes all the difference. If I see Jen, it just isn't me. Jenn is.

Speaking of Jennifers though...any of you out there ever have your parents sing that "Juniper" song with your name? That will always remind me of being a little girl...

My sister is Jen (1977) and my best friend is Jenn (1978). Don't ask me why! Oddly enough, since college and meeting my Jenn, I haven't met another Jennifer. Back in school, I knew a lot (and so did my sister, of course!)

I am a Jennifer (born in '66). There were a few other Jennifers in my class, but the name really started becoming common with girls a year or 2 younger. I can't tell you how many little Jennys and Jennifers I babysat for when I was a teenager.

I was Jenny until I graduated from college and got my first "real" job. Since Jennifer was the name on my resume, I got called Jennifer at work. When DH and I started dating, he called me Jen. Nobody had ever called me Jen until him- his whole family call me Jen. I have friends from all different phases of my life that call me different names. some friends only call me Jen, others only know me as Jennifer. Family tends to call me Jenny, and my brother still sometimes calls me Ynnej- the nickname he made up for me when I was about 5.

So, I answer to Jennifer, Jenny, Jen, Jeannie (down South, where I live, lots of folks pronounce it with a long E sound), or whatever people come up with. I really prefer Jenny over anything else, though.

I am a Jennifer, and I always spelled it Jen (never Jenn), and I was born in 1970. What is funny is that there were always tons of Jennifer's in grade school, but now that I am an adult, I don't know any other Jennifer's.

I remember the "Jennifer Juniper" song- I was convinced it was written specifically for me. My mom also was one of those who thought Jennifer was "different". She says she had only heard of the name used once- the actress Jennifer Jones. Apparantly, she didn't get out much!

How many Jennys remember "Jenny, Jenny (867-5309)"? I had that song sung to me so many times in the 80's- everyone thought they were being sooo funny and origional . I got to hate that song- but now I kinda like it. Reminds me of my younger days (not that my number was ever written on any walls!).

I didn't read all the posts, but I'm a Jennifer (middle name is Anne) too. I go by Jennifer or Jen ~ never Jenny/Jenni/Jennie. My mother wouldn't allow it and hates that people call me Jen now.

I don't know why some people use Jenn and other Jen. During high school, I wanted to be different so I went by Jenifer...even had a boyfriend that gave me an engraved ID bracelet spelled "Jenifer" bacause I insisted it be spelled that way. Kind of stupid now that I think back

I didn't know too many Jennifer's growing up (I was born in 1969) I think maybe only one other in my graduating class....I think the boom came a few years later.

I had about 5 friends named Jennifer when I was in HS. To their faces, they were all Jen; if they were absent when we were talking about them, we automatically added their last name or just referred to them by their last name only. I also have a cousin Jennifer, and she prefers Jenn.

This is so funny! How many of you were born in 72-74? I'm only asking because I was supposed to be a Jennifer Lynn....but there were 12 (yes, twelve) Jennifers in the hospital when I was born, and many were Jennifer Lynns! So, Mom named me (after 3 days) after the heroine in her romance novel she had at the hospital (Karissa).

My cousin Jennifer, born in '68, is a Jennifer Lynn. The Lynn is for our grandmother's sister Marcia Lynn. And Jennifer's oldest daughter is Courtney Lynn.

Again, my cousin...no one ever sang the song to her, but to this day, our grandmother calls her "Juniper."

I'm Jennifer Marie born in '74. Most of the Jennifers I know here are also Jennifer Maries.

I was named after the song "Jennifer Juniper". My father loved that stupid song. My Mother tried to point out that it was named for a girl with blonde hair and that it made no sense to name me after it, but Dad insisted. She tried to get him to instead call me Jenna. Oh and Dad wanted my middle name to be Juniper Thank goodness Mom put her foot down and said it would be Marie because Marie is a family name.

People used to ask me all of the time if my number was "867-5309".

I get annoyed when people - especially my own friends - use jenn.

When I was a kid everyone called my Jenny - which I stopped promptly when I hit 9th grade (high school!).

I was born in 1977, I am Jennifer Anne after my Mom's Aunt Anne. There are so many I had considered going with Anne but didnt really like that either.

We refer to each other in our group as Jennifer (me or Jen B) Jenn W. as Jenn double N, and Jen M. as nifer.

My husband's sister's name is also Jennifer. My husband and I got married before she got married so for about two years, we had the same exact name.

I was born in 1976 and am a Jennifer Lynn. But, my mother's name is Lynn, so that's her excuse for naming the most common name ever. I give her crap about it all the time.

I always ask them why the hell they picked "jennifer" since they apparently don't like it!

Everyone else in my family calls me Jeny. I don't really care about that, but I sure wish I was a Laura or a Stephanie or a Kristin or something!
