I have an assignment in my home design class to think of 100 things I want in my dream house in 2027, 25 years from now. I'll be 41 ... and I made up my family too: My husband will be 42, I will have 16 year old twins, and another 13 year old. Well, yea, I'm on 90 right now ... 10 more things!! So what would you guys want in your dream house?

Thanks a bunch!!

I'd want a library(although if you really wanted that you probably would have already put it), a little food-elevator in all the rooms where someone in the kitchen could put a meal in it and send it up to whatever floor(but that is a little unrealistic), um, a canopy bed with curtains that can be drawn for privacy(I've always wanted one of those!!), an indoor pool, of course, though that would be pricey. I don't know. I love old-fashion stuff, like the elevator and canopy bed, but I really can't think of anything else. And you have 90 things! That must have taken you a while. :D

Haha, here are some of things I have already ... two staircases, 2 floor closet for me!, library with rolling ladder, home theater, waterfalls, indoor sauna, indoor pool, weight room, fish tank wall, my own salon ...

I second the Dance studio!!!!
Also maybe a indoor track type thing since you like running...let us know your finial list! :)

Thanks for all of your help guys ... I just finished my list. Let's see; here are some of the things I have: two staircases, wrap-around porch, laundry shoot, security system, fireplaces in most of the rooms, hot tub/shower/and tub in master bath, heated towel racks and floors in bathrooms, sky lights, two floor closet w. spiral staircase, breakfast nook, cooking island, eating island, home theater, waterfall in master bath, waterfall alongside front staircase -- flowing under the glass floor (so you see flowing water), intercom system, sun room, suite for my parents - haha, my mom's idea :) , cathedral celings in some rooms, two laundry rooms (one upstairs, one downstairs), wine cellar, balcony off of almost every room, two offices (one for kids), personal salon, three car garage, indoor track, safe room from terrorists ...

My dream house would also be on the beach. For those of you who've seen Pamela Anderson's house on MTV Cribs -- Her little porch at the end of her property, and beginning of the sand, with the glass 'railing' -- That's what I want too! haha.

Thanks again for all of your help! Depending on how my drawings all come out for this, maybe I'll post them. :)

Oh I really liked that 2-story closet idea!!

Yea I've seen that on Cribs!! It's really pretty!!! Have you seen Mariah Carey on Cribs? I would LOVE to have her closet!!

Yes!! I want Mariah Carey's closet -- but I would make it two stories! Haha.

That would be an awesome house! I want a closet like Mariah Carey's too- it looked like a store or something!

on the subject of dream houses a friend of mine lance has a dream house. he has a huge three story house w/ a in ground pool, batting cages, tennis court and indoor baseball court field or whatever u want to call it, a indoor workout gym, a pool table, and tons of other stuff!!! i would die for his house

Plasma screens. Y'know those flat TVs? I figure in '27, they'll be all that's around, except for your archaic cathode-ray tube for $5 or $10 at radio shack. My dream house (or apartment, I want to live in a city) would be totally loaded with radiation-free audio-visual technology...lil' touch pads everywhere instead of light switches, sensors that detect temperature so i can save $$$ on cooling and heat, and really sleek touches like natural materials (diff. types of rock, copper, bamboo, etc.). Lighting would be mostly invisible (i'm not one for lamps), tucked up in the ceiling recesses...but I'd have some antique retro touches like a CD player (LOL). One cool idea is to keep coffee beans stored in plexiglass tubes and use 'em as railing or stair banisters. The beans would be right by the kitchen, so if you'd want to grind coffee, just pop open the end of the rail and bingo. It looks cool, too.

I'm going into architecture, and designed a bunch of houses that are supposed to fit in any time, whether it be now or in 2027. One of 'em is a 2-story beach house with a lot of open space...when you walk in, the entire center section is open to the 2nd floor, with a single bridge connecting the upstairs living rooms (on the left) and the upstairs bedrooms (on the right). The main floor is just living/party space. I stuck a gym, a studio and a garage on the first floor, but upstairs is where everything else is.

One cool touch that I love in freestanding houses is a master bedroom with a big, soaking tub...right IN the bedroom. You know, so you can kick back, watch TV and the view out the window right from the tub. Every time I do a freestanding house and get to the master bath, I always end up moving the tub closest to the TV and the window in the master bedroom. A lot of times I put the bathtub right behind the bed, and then have big bifold windows separating them.

Did I forget anything? Probably. Gtg...

I like this thread. :D
