I really don't understand what you are talking about. The reason why they are taking off ING is because of the referal program/links. It is safe is someone types in Emigrant Direct dot com into their browser.

That assumes emigrantdirect dot com IS the website for the bank. The problem is crooks can create similar names. Emigrantbank dot com has nothing to do with the bank. Someone could come up with a name like that and use it to scam people.

LOL you could say that about any site. You can't live your life being paranoid or what-if. Another user on this post even reported they have been using it for a while. Also EmigrantDirect is listed on www.bankrate.com

Your credit card company will protect you against on-line fraud. The difference is with an on-line bank you're giving them all the information they need to wire all of the money out of your account. The problem with clicking on a posted link is that the poster could be a crook, an honest member who made a typo that directs you to a fraudulent site or a member (like yourself) that is posting the correct link to a useful site.

I'd be very reluctant to click through on a link posted by either a new poster or a poster with a low post count.

I can order Disney tickets, if the site is a scam my credit card company will reverse the transaction, cancel my cc and give me a new card. Much bigger problem with a wire transfer.

I'm saying you dont have to click on the link. Go to a site like www.bankrate.com and check it out or research it through yahoo.
