HELLO,

MY HUSBAND AND I ARE PLANNING ON HEADING TO KAUAI OCT '05. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAD ANY CERTAIN CONDOS THAT THEY ENJOYED OR WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH. ONE THING MY DH SAYS THAT HE NEEDS IS A/C, NEEDS THE NOISE TO SLEEP!! DON'T ASK, I TOLD HIM WE COULD JUST LISTEN TO THE WATER AND WAVES, BUT HE DIDN'T GO FOR IT.
THANKS FOR ANY INFO... I PLAN ON CALLING SOON TO BOOK, HEARD THAT IT IS PRETTY HARD TO GET.

THANKS AGAIN,
KRISTIN

I put our name on the exchange list last November ('03) for an October '05 trade. We were notified in March that a match had been made and we will be staying at the Hanalei Bay Resort on Kauai for a week.

If you are looking for 10/05 I would suggest putting your name on the list ASAP. My guess is that they won't have an immediate match available and you'll have to put your name on their request list. Just remember that you aren't guaranteed a match and will only get one if an owner at one of the resorts on the DVC trade list offers up their week.

Also, just an FYI, but using all capitals is considered shouting in forums like this one. Taking the "Caps Lock" off will make your posts easier to read.

Good luck with your trade!

For the DVC-II options, I'd personally consider the two Marriott's, the Embassy and Hanelei Bay and possibly Club Intrawest. While there are others I'd stay at, I can't think of others I'd trade straight up for DVC that are on the DVC list. Specifically I wouldn't trade even for Lawaii Beach, Worldmark or Cliff's Club. I'm not sure about AC for all of these. The Embassy has AC for the BR but not the LR which didn't bother us really and worked out OK. LBR and Cliff's club not only are slightly below DVC standards, their unit assignment policies are very negative. OTOH, if you can trade directly with an owner you may do better, especially if you can avoid the Coral building at LBR. Don't forget direct exchanges and the smaller exchange companies. Note that LBW mostly uses a smaller, indepenent exchange company based in HI and who's name escapes me at present. I'd contact them if I was interested in that property. SFX gets a lot of Embassy as does RCI. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Dean.... You mentioned that you would book the two Marriott properties. Do you find the Marriott's are similar in quality to Disney Vacation Club???? :smooth:

Thanks for your help! ::yes:: ::MickeyMo

Overall yes Marriott tends to be on Par with DCL but there are exceptions, just not in HI.

Thanks for the information. I would like to go to Hawaii at some point in the next couple of years using DVC points. I'm already collecting information, so this is very helpful. Thanks again! ::yes:: :teeth:
