Since DL only has 3 hotels, is pool hopping a problem?

I was just wondering if pool hopping is as big of a problem at DL as it is at WDW. It's a very sensitive subject for us WDW vets (you'll see people get into nasty fights over this subject on the WDW boards) but is it a problem for you DL vets? Do you see a lot of people pool hopping between your 3 hotels or one in particular? We always stay at a Deluxe resort mainly for the location and the pool. The last resort we stayed at was the Beach Club and that was specifically so we could use Stormalong Bay. The BC is probably the strictest of all WDW resorts on their pool use. Every guest is given a wrist band to enter the pool. Do any of the DL hotels enforce the wrist band policy or is this simply not a problem at DL? We are planning to stay at the Disneyland Hotel and I was just curious. Thanks!

I know the Neverland pool at least is gated and requires a key to enter.

but to backtrack, i'll only consider policy because i personally won't endorse anything that violates specific policies in place.

at WDW, there is a no pool hopping policy for good reason (seems more people at POP would rather swim at the Poly than people at the Poly wanna go swim at POP. go figure). it USED to allow for pool hopping, but now it's restricted to DVC members and their guests (and even then, AKL and BC/YC are off limits).

that said, I believe the policy at DLR is that only GCH guests may use GCH's pool. Otherwise they all have access to eachother's.

Actually, I believe they have done away with the pool hopping.

Yep, there's no pool hopping allowed at any of the three DLR hotels. In addition, all the pools are fenced, gated, and locked, and you need a hotel key card to gain access to the pool where you are staying.:thumbsup2

Actually, when we stayed at Paradise Pier last December, we changed hotels on our "day off", to Candy Cane Inn. The boys were dissappointed that they had not had time to enjoy the Paradise Pier pool while we were staying there, so I loaded them up and we went back and spent the afternoon at the pool. (It was our check out day, so we were still entitled to use the pool).

But we parked in the garage, and went up the elevators and into the pool area, and no one questioned us. They actually have a door that goes straight from the garage to the pool area. I remember thinking to myself, wow, it would be really easy to sneak in here. They do have a gate, but it never seemed to be closed, and you would circumvent the gate if you came in the garage. I personally don't think it would be worth sneaking into for swimming, but I might consider sneaking in to view the fireworks from the deck with the piped in music:)

Ah hem........(cough, cough).......:ssst:;)

We stayed at PP in December, one night we were walking through the grounds at DLH and I wanted to show my friend the pool area, I tried my room key for pp and it opened the gate at the DL pool. We didn't swim, and I don't know the policy, but I assume if my room key opens it I'm ok.

I think it would be easy to pool hop at GCH. Although the area is gated, people come and go between the snack bar and bathroom all the time, and I've never been challenged by a CM.

We didn't have to use our room key at all to access PP pool last June was it because we were on concierge level the same as the pool? The view for the fireworks was awesome though. On another note, when we stayed at BC in Sept we were not given anything to access Stormalong Bay nor were we asked to show our room key.

When we were looking into booking at the Disneyland hotel last summer, the pool question came up. Our kids wanted to swim in the Grands' pool also so we asked disney reservations and they said If you are a registered guest at one of their Hotels you can use the pool at all three hotels. I think if you're not a geust it would be somewhat easy to sneak in with some unsuspecting folks!

We were told last weekend while staying at the PP, that because our pool was closed at the PP, we could use any other pool.

That's strange. We were at BC during Labor Day and we DID have to show a key and were given a wristband. What part of Sept. did you go? Maybe it wasn't as busy.

popcorn:: we picked the DL hotel (and are paying more $s than the GC) because of the pool...as in an amentity for onsite guests only @ that resort:confused3

Same policy @ WDW resorts, unless rehabs or you're DVC members staying on points & even then Stormalong Bay/BCV & AK is off limits...even then there are blackout dates & you're supposed to check in with the desk 1st to make sure they're not too crowded. Very frustrating to not be able to find a seat poolside. (fyi, we've never pool hopped, just way too much effort imo)

That I can understand.

But when we went for NYE, we wanted to see if the hot tub jets were better at GCH than DLH. Our room keys did not open the gates. A nice lady let us in so we could just dip our hands in the spa to check out the jet pressure. (side note: they were better. we're staying at GCH next time;) )
