I haven't played the Sims in a long time. Now I'm getting back into it.

I was wondering when you play the Sims, how do you play it? Do you concentrate on one family mostly?

My maid doesn't seem to clean up. My "family" has bugs everywhere, garbage all the time. It's kind of realistic, lol. Seriously though, how do you deal with all of that? I thought the maid was the answer, but my Sims end up doing the cleaning and can't keep up with it.

Any suggestions on keeping my family happy? (Hot Date is the most recent add on I have.)

thanks! I would appreciate any tips!

One family is the way I do it..........don't get confused then....

You could get yourself a Servo for your household chores if you wanted to.........he cost 15,000, but is well worth it.

Just hit Alt, Ctrl & C & type in Rosebud , this will give you 1,000 & just keep doing that until you have enough money to get your Servo.

He even prepares meals for you, so he's worht his weight in gold;)

To keep them happy, get them a pinball machine or an electic train set or even better I can't think what the thing is called, but it is white & it's like a mask to go over their eyes, that gets their fun levels way up.

I've been thinking about getting back into the Sims. I played the original when it first came out but got tired of it after a while and gave it away. Of course very shortly after they started coming out with the expansion packs. I don't think I would be interested in the Sims Online though, just the single player game.

In the newest expansion pack, you can hire a butler for $500.00 a day. He does many chores, calls the gardener and the maid too. By doing the ROSEBUD cheat for extra money, he is easily affordable. The Servco robot in the other expansions does work pretty well.

The object that Nutsy I think was talking about was the virtual reality glasses. The Sims find that very entertaining and they do love the pinball type games.

Also for 10,000 dollars you can buy a thing called a rejuvenator. It looks like a shower. The Sim goes inside and they are completely happy again. All their hunger, bathroom needs and mood are restored to full levels. I would definitely recommend getting a rejuvenator and a Servco robot.

You can fire the maid then hire another the next day!! This usually solves my problem. I also concentrate mostly on one family. I create new characters as I need them for new friends

I usually get about 4 or 5 familys/singles... and then one by one build on them. Once those get boring I do 4 or 5 again and then build on those.

I could use one of these!

I love this game! I have all the expansion packs and it is just the coolest!

I would definately say by a Servo to clean the house and use the rosebud cheat to get whatever you want...lol

I have a bunch of families but I only play like 2 or 3

my favorite expansion pack is the Vacation one(I love how the vacation symbol kinda looks like the DVC one! :p)

If you have Servo and the butler, he will activate Servo when he comes in. He also fills pet bowls and calls repair service when something breaks. If you're a Star with a stalker that comes to your house, the butler will go outside and SLAP the stalker. The butler is very handy...:D

What's this rejuvenator thing? Did it come with the game or do I have to find it somewhere?

As for me, I have a few families. I know this is sadistic, but when I get tired of a family, I kill them off. Then the house is haunted. Green-glowing Sims haunting in the middle of the night is pretty neat. I have a Scooby Doo gang house and of course, Sim Dan Murphy! He's big shot Superstar. When he goes to town, people flip out and flock to him. He signs lots of autographs, too....:D

thanks for all the tips!

where do I get a Servo? (For the sims AND real life?) Seriously, is the Servo on one of the new expansion packs (I have the ones through hot date, in the right order).

thanks!

I think Servo came with Livin' Large. He's available under the electronics section of 'Buy' mode. The thumbnail is of what he stays in when not in use. Just look closely at all your electronics. He should be there. Once you buy him, have your Sim turn him on and away he goes.

I used to play The Sim a lot but started having so many problems with it, I think I downloaded too many objects that had problems in them.
I can't figure out what ones they are or how to get rid of them. File Cop doesn't help. I guess I could uninstall and reinstall the game but I have so many cool things in there!;)
When I did play, I usually built and decorated homes...I hardly ever played with the people!
I built a great castle where Shrek and Fiona live. I forget where I got them but they are amazing, Fiona is the pretty Fiona but when she puts on her pajamas she becomes the ogre Fiona.
You should see Shrek in his bathing suit! :p

i go through phases with my Sims addiction. i will play them constantly for weeks at a time...and then forget about them for months at a time. i have all of the expansion packs now except for house party. but i have found that if i run everything up to superstar, it runs reeeeeaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyy slow. i decided to uninstall the game last night and reinstall it without vacation. i have found that i don't use it at all...i use hot date and unleashed a lot more...but i was having installation issues and finally gave up just installed the sims deluxe and superstar...mostly cuz i was impatient and i wanted to play with the new expansion pack! i just got it yesterday!! i haven't gotten very far into it yet though.

the rejuvenator...i found that online somewhere. i can't remember where though! but it was a godsend!!! i need to get it again and use it in my new game.

i've found that when i play, i concentrate on one or two families and then i get bored. i concentrate on 2 Sims...a male and female...just long enough to get them together and in love.

i am hoping that i can move past these installation problems today. it wouldn't recognize my hot date cd. but i'm dying for my unleashed to go back in there. my neighborhood is just so small without it!!

Having a ton of memory helps.

OK, I found the robot guy. Very nice tip! Thank you!

Now I'm having trouble getting friends for my Sims. What's the key? No one ever wants to come over and my Sims character (the Mom) is depressed over this. How do you make your Sims characters likeable?

thanks! :)

I found that somewhere in a Sims site- maybe the official site, can not remember.

To make friends, invite neighbors over or talk on the phone and try and build up a relationship. If your Sim gets too sad, a clown will appear " The Sad Clown". He is awful, he makes your Sim even more depressed. I read to get rid of him, you buy the picture of the Clown and have to burn it. With the rejuvenator your Sim never gets sad and has energy.

The Sims Superstar is kind of crazy. The obsessed fans are a real pest. It is true that your butler will slap the fans that stalk the outside of your house and try and steal your garbage.

Here's a hint to get more money faster. You use the rosebud cheat with modification. After using the initial rosebud cheat, you go back to the typing box and type the following:
!;!;!;!
and so on until you can't fit anymore on the line. At that point hold down the shift key and arrow left to highlight everything you just typed. Hold down 'control c', this copies everything you highlighted. Hit enter to execute the command. Here's where it gets cool, go back into the typing box and press 'control v', this pastes what you copied previously. Continue until you're as rich as you wanna be!
I hope this makes sense! My husband the computer analyst typed this and I found it kinda hard to follow.:D But I am basically computer illiterate.

Throw a party & all the neighbours come a running:)

Then I found a good way to get people to come over was to call them around 7am before they head off to work & make sure you feel them while they are there;)

You can also set up a table outside and buy a birthday cake. Folks just show up for cake.

If you have Unleashed, get a pet. They do wonders for your social meter. The Telecom upgrade is great. It was initially available on the Sims website. It let you call neighbors and just talk or invite them over. If you have the Hot Date pack, you can invite them dowtown and they'll meet you there.

for some reason i when i have hot date installed the game won't run correctly. it's not a memory issue, i think there is some kind of bug or conflict.
