Sims 3...

Do you know if there are cheat codes yet because my friends and I love to use them when they are at my house because it makes the game go faster. We don't have alot of time to spend with each other.

The motherlode one works. You know, the one that gives you more money? But I don't know of any others that do. I know that the BoolProp one does NOT work on it tho, because I tried it and it gave me that error thing.

My problem is when I want to make my Sims fatter or thinner, their bodies stay the same but get all deformed. I didn't know if it was because of my computer and maybe not having enough memory at the time or whatever, or if it's a glitch in the game.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...so I have no idea. Anybody else having those problems too?

I have no idea what the issue is, but I do know that A LOT of other people are having the exact same problem, as well as several others. For example, look at all the WONDERFUL complain threads here: CLICK!

Don't they look lovely?! :cloud9:

I'm fairly certain that EA has their hands full right now with that mess. Hopefully, it will all be fixed...eventually.

Hey so I know this kind of died down but I'm still intrested

My sister and I play the Sims2 religiously. and although I was VERY excited for the Sims 3 my sister (who probably is more into the Sims2 then I am) wasn't excited at all. She said she read reviews and they weren't that good and she said it just doens't look the same.

Does anyone feel the same? could someone tell me the pros and cons??

Thanks!

Well I haven't played the Sims2, so I don't know what if these are in the Sims2 and what are completely new. So just bare with me..lol

Pros:
- Their lives are much more detailed. Like my one Sim is in the law enforcement career, and he just got a promotion and I could choose if he wanted to become part of the spy program or forensics. And since my Sim was such a good employee, he was getting other job offers, like from the military and stuff.
- You can customize their clothes, decorations, furniture, hair color, eye color, etc, A LOT! lol. Like for hair color, I can give my Sim high lights, a different root color, and a different tip color. And I can change the color and pattern on their clothes.
- Basically, almost everything about their lives is customizable haha
- You can zoom out and view the entire town without the loading screen. And you can go a visit other homes, again without a loading screen.
- You can buy a car, so no need for taxis.

Cons:
- You can only control 1 family at a time per town.
- Time doesn't freeze if one member of the house leaves to go shopping. So you have to juggle the family when it's separated, which can get annoying.
- There are a lot of problems with the game. My only problem with the game is when I want to make my Sim fatter or skinnier, their bodies get all distorted. It's very annoying, and I hope it gets fixed soon..haha

That's all I can think of at the moment..haha. I'm sure others will post more.

Booprop does work, if you just do "testingcheatsenabled true" but, there are many fewer things you can do, but you can drag up the needs and change their traits (:

I honestly do not like it at all. Its not as fun as sims 2 in my opinion. I like being able to make the people but other then that Its too confusing

I was going to get the game, until I ran a compatability test and found out I don't reach the minimum requirements on both the laptop and the computer...

my computer said I didn't either but it works fine...

I have 2 questions,

One relates to Sims 3

The other to Sims 2.

Sim 3 Question:

Does the "maxmotives" cheat work on Sims 3? Cause it really is a life saver.

Sims 2 Question:

Whenever I try the Boolprop cheat is says "Error: Expecting at least 2 arguments" what does that mean?

i love this game and i am totally addicted to it. I believe that maxmotives still works.
another cheat that works as well is motherlode. when you type it in it adds 50,000 to the family

what is maxmotives?

I have it and I actually love it wayyy more than the Sims 2.
Some pros-

  • Your sims don't take as long to eat, shower, and sleep anymore, it happens much faster than in TS2.

  • The graphics are amazing.

  • You can customize EVERYTHING, which is really good.

  • It also focuses more on careers, relationships, skills, etc. Their needs take longer to go down.

  • You don't have to wait for the loading screen, you can just roam anywhere.
  • You can set their life span.

  • It's harder than TS2, which could be a con, depends on how you feel about it. TS2 was way too easy, you could get money a lot quicker and easier and there was no real challenge to anything.
  • You can have traits for your sims now.
  • The careers are much more interesting.
  • It loads faster.

Cons-

  • You need a really good computer to run it.
  • It takes a while to get used to. Even though after that it's amazing...
  • Right now, there's no EPs, but there's probably going to be some in the future.
  • Your computer must be able to play DVDs.
  • You only have one neighborhood plus the downloadable one.

No, but there's another way to keep there motives up.
You just do the "testingcheatsenabled true" cheat, then either drag the bar to make it full or go to their mailbox, hold shift and click it, and them choose "make all happy"

I've never gotten that, but are you sure you typed it properly and spelled everything right?

Oh, and Julie, that could be because your graphics card isn't compatible.
I had that problem a bit too with my old one, it also kept crashing and the graphics were bad, and then I got a new graphics card and it runs perfectly.

Ooo! Thanks!

Maybe I didn't. I'll make sure.

The needs bars take longer to go down? That is awesome! I really want it, but I'm afraid that it'll get too addicting and I will get sucked in and won't want to stop. Did that happen with any of you?

Ok, thank you! I'll look into that!

Kinda..haha.
I make sure to play The Sims 3 only when I have nothing else to do that day, because I can easily sit on my computer and play all day. lol

I want it, we get it here June 5th.
But on the Sims 3 forums everyone's been saying bad stuff about it..
I'm having the worst trouble with it ever. I downloaded the whole thing then I clicked play; then it says my video driver doesn't work with this weird program. Then I upgraded the driver or whatever it was and the game was so incredibly slow I had to shut my computer down. I think i'm returning it tomorrow.

I got this for my birthday a few weeks ago, and it's been a lot of fun.
The lack of loading screens has been a life saver, because I have very little patience for loading screens.

So far I haven't gotten addicted, which I feared I would. I've been taking my time and using cheats to earn money (I feel guilty).

I'm running it on a mac and it works OKAY, but not great, it lags occasionally.
