My dh surprised me yesterday with Open for Business and Family Fun Stuff!! So I had already informed him that he must not expect me to do a lick of housework this weekend! :thumbsup2

Does anyone else have Open for Business yet? If so, do you have any tips to share?!?!?!

Oh and the Family Fun Stuff has the cutest decorating options! You can decorate the kids rooms into medevil or an underwater theme. And to complete the motif, the children can wear costumes now! It's adorable!! :cheer2:

I'm so hooked!!

I bought Sims 2 and Open for Business about a week apart. I'm still learning about both basically (I still can't put a roof on a house correctly).

I have started with a business on my home lot, before venturing out to the "District",so no real tips. My business seems to be ok, I just have a store set up and a hair dresser/makeover chair (which only 1 Sim has used over the course of 4 Sims days).

It is addicting for sure. I try to limit myself to playing in the evening, because if I start it in the mornings, I am not doing much of anything else.

I looked at the Fun Stuff one yesterday, but set it back down, I need the money more for my Disney trip. Hinting to my kid's I have a b'day in a couple of months.....

Don't install Family Fun Stuff yet. It's riddled with bugs and a patch is coming "soon" according to Maxis.

OFB rocks. Visit the OFB Commercial Contest winners on thesims2.com. Big Jon's Flush-O-Rama is my favorite.

Be sure to download all the free stuff in the Objects section of the Exchange. maxoidmonkey makes neat stuff.

I forogt to add that there are lots of tutorials and tips for all the EPs, especially OFB on TS2 BBS. The search function is VERY useful.

Another favorite haunt of mine is modthesims2.com. There are hacks there, but there is also LOTS of free objects, meshes, hair, clothes, custom Sims, floors, wallpapers, lots, etc. And it's not a pay site.

simsconnection.com has great clothes and hair, especially for women.

Happy Simming!

I just got back into the Sims 2. I bought it when it came out, but Everquest 2 came out around the same time and all of my game playing time got sucked into that.

I just ordered nightlife and OFB with a gift certificate I had. Hopefully they'll come this week. I thought I had bought the education one whatever it is called, but I can't find it.

Right now I am just having the hardest time trying to get my Sims pregnant. I turned aging off, but people on the Sims forums swear up and down that that shouldn't matter. I guess they just need to woohoo (try for baby actually) some more. hehe.

Well, for best results, the bed yields a higher chance of conception. The hot tub is less and public places are less than hot tubs.

Make sure the female Sim isn't within 5 days of becoming an elder.

If you have OFB, having a pregnant Sim eat cheesecake supposedly leads to twins. There is also a 'forcetwins' cheat. Twins can be a handful though.

I've only been using the bed. She's a pretty young adult. I guess they'll just have to keep trying, but with their busy work schedules, it's getting hard. LOL!. Sounds like real life.

My Sims haven't had too many problems with having kids. They have jut had their 1st child and trying to run their "home" business. I normally hire a Nanny and then "bond" when they are toddler's (in my previous family) and that works well, hoping it will with the business, too.

Now, I want to play but got too much to do. Maybe this evening, I will have some free time.

Thanks for those links Olena, going to check those tutorials out. I go to the Sims2Estates also for free stuff. Link Here

I can't get that ModtheSims2 webpage to come up. Is that the right link?

I'm assuming this is true because I haven't read the official guide book but we have noticed that every successful bed result is followed by a really short "Rock a Bye Baby" tune.

Personally my favorite things are the different levels of the careers and what becomes of them. I love the little practice contraption that doctors get and that the top level of the police career is super hero.

Thanks for Sims2Estates link. I'm browsing it now.

Here's an actual link to ModtheSims2:

On mod the sims, you can actually download custom careers made by crafty simmers. There's even a 'risky woo hoo' hack that creates an everpresent, random chance of pregnancy and they even created Sim STDs. I never bothered downloading that.

Some of my favorite hacks are the Mind-Control mirror that lets you select any Sim on your lot or on the other end of the phone line. This includes the Grim Reaper and ghosts (though you can't really control non-sociable NPCs like them). It's handy for tracking relationships with player Sims and even raiding their aspiration rewards.

Another favorite hack is for the phone. It works great in my game and allows me to set the ringer to OFF, so Sims won't call constantly or late at night.

We had a teen grow up to and adult last night and his regular clothes were a bunny suit? What causes that?

I love the Sims2, and got the Nightlife expansion pack, and Open for Business and really enjoy them both. I got the Family Fun Stuff and was kind of disappointed with it. The original price was $19.99 but Target had it for $14.99, I'm glad I didn't pay $20 for it. I like the decorations for the kids' bedrooms but was hoping there was more "stuff" for the rest of the house. I miss things from the original Sims like the Christmas tree/presents, campfire, genie in the lamp, etc. I wish we could incorporate more of the "old" stuff from the original Sims into Sims2.

I haven't bought either of them (yet ;) ) but I have a lot of aliens living in my town now.

Give them time. What was there... 10 expansion discs for the original game?

Personally I learned my leson from the first. Just wait a while and these expansion packs will be bundled together in groups.

I remember with the original Sims, I bought every extension pack there was almost as soon as they came out, and was so overwhelmed with what I wanted to do or go.

This time, I swore I would get the 2 games I own down first, then get University and Nightlife for Sims 2. So tempting to throw them in the cart when shopping, but I think "I can use that money for my trip", so I put it back. I think Sims are very addicting, but I love them, I can't help it!!

Well, my Sims had a baby girl last night. I hope I am taking care of the baby okay. She never seems hungry or needs a changing. I remember in the original Sims, they cried for 3 days straight. I turned aging back on just to grow the kid up. Trying to decide if I want to have another one hehe.

Ok I'm already running into problems with Open for Business. I got my pregant sim to go to the bakery and buy a cheesecake so she could bring it home and eat. (I've read about the rumors of pregnant sims eating cheesecake and having twins). When I got home and moved it from my backpack, it was like she didn't know what to do with it. The only options it had was to resume cooking or clean up. I tried resume cooking and she picked up the cheesecake and walked around with it. I couldn't get her to eat it for anything. It finally spoiled and she had to throw it out. Is there a way to actually eat cheesecake without have to resume cooking it?

Also, I had a club that I owned complete with a kitchen. I had one of my employees bake pies to sell. Well the pies eventually spoiled and now I can't remove them. I tried de-selecting the 'for sale' option and now I'm stuck with rotting pies that I can't remove! Any ideas on how to get rid of the nasty pies? I even tried deleting the cabinets that they were on but with no success. It wouldn't let me delete the cabinets with items on them.

Not helping on the deleting problem, but isn't there a cooler type shelf?Maybe putting them in that will help keep them good. I was just messing around, placed one of the coolers in the shop. I had the guy make mac and cheese and placed it for sale in the "cooler" type shelf. No one has bought it yet, but it doesn't appear spoiled yet.
