Simpsons ride opening - anything new on projected date?

All I can find is "Spring 2008" about when the Simpsons ride may open. Anyone here have any better info/intelligence? It may affect our dates. Thanks!

The "official" word is Spring of 2008 but some are guessing April without any inside knowledge. The Kwik E Mart has opened replacing the old BTTF store. That was enough to get me to drop everything and go up. The store has some great Simpson merchandise. Some of the signs are pretty good like:

Today's merchandise at tomorrow's prices!

Just browsing? Just leave!

There is a big Squishee sign but they don't sell Squishees?
They do sell Duff and Flaming Moe energy drinks (no alcohol). I bought a $3 Flaming Moe and wouldn't recommend it. I loved the blue squishees that 7-11 sold to promote the movie.

I can't wait for Krustyland- the Krusty-est place on Earth to open! I hope they have a special annual passholders grand opening event that draws a few of cartoon's stars, cartoonists or creators.

OT - figure DS will make up for not buying any souvies the last trip, next trip . The franchise sure knows how to merchandise!

wonder if Universal shops ship stuff home if he wants anything too bulky to drag with us?

"Spring 2008" generally means April or May, often May.

What is Krustyland? I haven't heard about that. We will be there next fall and I can't wait to see all the new Simpsons stuff

that is suppose to be what the ride is from what I have read.
krusty is suppose to take you thru spingfield and thru the new krustyland theme park .
Hope I got that right and if not I stand corrected.

What is Krustyland?

Krustyland is the cartoon them park, when your on the ride, you travel through virturally. it like on the Back to the Future ride, you went through dinosaurs and the future, this time you go through the made up land of krustyland.

it's not like another land, like new york or kidzone

Depends on how far you want to go with "intelligence". Universal has to apply for building permits with the City of Orlando. Those applications are a matter of public record and can be reviewed at any time in the permitting process including the certificate of occupancy (when they can open). Universal doesn't want Joe Six-pack to get copies of their building permit so they don't permit with the name Krusty-land or Simpson's ride. Their codename is Project Fish . Good luck and should you decide to accept it, should any team member be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This post will self-destruct in five seconds.

Well, the last Universal Backstage email i got had the following:

I would imagine that the Simpsons ride would be open if they are giving away Simpsons shirts....so my guess is April 1st.

We walked around USO yesterday.
Across from the Kwik E Mart store I saw an outside vendor selling Squishees. (At an outdoor cart like where they sell pretzels, hotdogs, etc.) We did not try one though.
