Simple Thing a Cast Member Did...

I stay at POR every year the week after Thanksgiving.

Two years ago, on a solo trip, I spent a lot of time in the lounge and got to know a great bartender named Todd. I eat out every night at home, so it is always good to get to know your local bartender.

Anyway, the last night, he gave me a glowing Tinkerbell clip, so that I could fly home safely and he said he looked forward to seeing me next year. I cried like a child. Sometimes the emotions just take over when you know your week at Disney is over.

Wouldn't you know it, last year, the first night, I asked for a glass of chardonnay and iced tea. He looked at me, and said, hey, you are the woman that I made cry last year when I gave you Tinkerbell. He remembered me.

My last day, he gave my Buzz Lightyear, and told me it would always help me "find my way home" (To POR, of course). Again, tears ensued. He laughed and commented that he had never made a woman cry so much!

This is amazing.

This thread took me TWO days to read through but it was SO much fun!:) I did the CP 10 years ago and got to spread the pixie dust, but I am very grateful to one CM, whose name I can't remember because my eyes were blurred from crying and I couldn't read her name tag.

My family is SUCH a huge "Disney Family"--my brother's name actually IS "Disney!" Diz has autism btw and he LOVES going to the 'World.

My dad was the biggest kid at WDW--dancing down main street, posing with characters, and once he even got the whole boat to sing along on POTC.

Daddy passed away in 2008. Unexpected. He was only 56.

We returned in 2009-a very bittersweet trip. I wanted to surprise my mum with a memorial gift, and so I went to Sir Mickeys to get some mouse ears with my Da's name on them.

I told the CM to please use the gold thread and the classic stitch for the name "Roy." she thought it was a cool name and asked who they were for.

I explained that I was going to take the mouse ears and place them on the sword in the stone in front of the carousel, then take a picture for my mum, to remember our silly wonderful dad and husband who was no longer here with us.

Well, she started to cry, I started to cry, and the next thing I know, she's handing my money back to me!

I took that picture and mum loves it! She even posted it on the "let the memories begin" site!

We are leaving in 19 days for a week in the world. This time with my DBF in tow!:) he hasn't been since 1994!

Daddy's mouse ears are coming with us, too. They'll be our marker in our ASMu window to guide us home, and will always be a reminder of my amazing Disney Dad, and the CM who let me cry a little when I needed to, even in the happiest place on earth.

You cried, she cried, I cried reading this.

That is the sweetest thing.<3

We took my mom in 2007, and went to mnsshp
She wore the fairy mother costume from Cinderella, everyone guests and cast members were so kind to her, but the sweetest thing was a maintenance man in the magic kingdom came to
My mom bent down on one knee (mom was in a wheelchair) and gave her a tinker bell pin, saying only special people get these pins Nd he's been holding on to it for a while till he found the right person.
This was truly magical moment for us

Mom passed in 2009, and that whole trip was magical I'm great full to all the wonderful people that trip.

Wonderful stories about being at WDW with your parents. I know those are memories you will always cherish. Alas, my parents have never been to Disney and are in no health to travel now. I would love to have had the chance to take them though....

My prayer is, my children will look back someday and remember all the times we had at this very special place. We have definitely had some wonderful times at our home away from home. A significant portion of those times were aided by wonderful CMs. :littleangel:

I can't wait to see what our November trip holds. :cool1:

On our first day, we were at Epcot. This was our first ever day at WDW, mind, and first impressions were great. We were queuing for Test Track and finally reached the video part when my 6 year old brother Rory started to have a nose bleed. We tried to make it stop before boarding (many helpful families handed us tissues and wipes, etc) but alas, it was not meant to be :(
My dad and Rory ended up with blood on their shirts. Not too much, but a substantial amount. Rory was bawling his eyes out because he was so worried he would miss Test Track.
Me, my mum, and other brother boarded the ride and my dad and Rory were ushered to first aid by some cast members.
We rode the ride and waited outside, wondering where my dad and Rory were. About 25 minutes later, Rory appeared, yelling 'I rode it! I RODE IT!!!' This was a surprise in itself. We knew we couldn't walk round the park with blood on our shorts all day and were worried we'd miss our Tutto Italia ADR to get more clothes at our resort SSR.
That was before my dad waved a voucher. Disney had given us two $30 vouchers to buy new shirts for my dad and Rory. Such a nice touch! We ran off hurriedly to choose new shirts.

At Citricos a CM took pictures of my parents and stuck it in an anniversary card (they also gave us extra buttons and knew it was their anniversary.) It was so sweet and we still have that card at home, safe and sound.

We were at the boat dock at DHS and saw a CM shoving a fishing net right to the bottom of the water. We asked what was he doing, turned out a family had dropped a cell phone into the water and were distraught at losing all of their photos. So Disney were just doing a quick check up to see if they could find it before the PROFFESSIONAL SCUBA DIVERS came the next day to retrieve it! I just found it so neat that the phone could have been a cheap $50 set and Disney spend hundreds of $ retrieving it. So kind of them. I can't think of anywhere else where that would happen.

And lastly, Snow White in Akershus. My father has always 'liked' Snow White. He had a great conversation with her about the seven dwarves. She stayed right in character.

My dad to this day insists that 'Snowy' winked at him twice in Akershus and a further time in the midday parade.;)

This past Feb we were walking back into the Poly after a long day. When we got to the room my 6 year old started to cry as she realized 3 pins came off her lanyard. I went back to the parking lot with my flash.ight on the iPhone and retraced our steps. When I stepped into the lobby the CM at the front desk asked if she could help with anything. I told her what happened. She asked DD's fav princess. I told her and she went to the back. She came back with a
5 different princess pins for DD. I cried right there. When I showed back to the room with them DD was so happy. I called to let management know how wonderful that CM was.

This was a simple thing that happened at DHS today. We got to the parade route about 30 minutes early to get a good spot. A CM that was keeping to crosswalk empty stood with us and chatted the whole time and made sure nobody got in front of us. My 4yr daughter made quick friends and we learned a lot about where the CM was from. She bent down by my daughter the whole parade and helped her take pictures and made sure she saw it all. Thanks so much to Jenna from St. Clair, MI. That made our day for something real simple.

In 2010 we were in DHS and my boys were just awestruck by the At At walker and wanted to go in so badly. Well star tours was closed for refurbishment at the time, but a nearby cm heard us telling the boys no, and that maybe we would be able to next time.

next thing I know I see the CM walking towards us with something in his hand.
He handed each of my boys Star Wars figurines and told them to hold onto them tight till next time.

The same trip my whole family was chosen to ride on the Mickey Float in AK. The kids didnt understand but this princess princess: was ecstatic!!!

I would send a note to management about her! Stop in Guest Relations before you leave and just do a quick note! Disney loves to hear things like this and I'm sure the CM would appreciate the nod!:goodvibes

This whole thread is making me weepy, thanks for sharing all your stories!:wave2:

Can I stop at any guest relations and send this note?

I believe so...I think they are called Magic Moments Card or something like that. Just ask at Guest Relations to fill out a card for a CM. :-) We try and stop any time someone goes out of their way for us! We have been told many times by GR how CMs really appreciate people who fill them out so that their bosses know they are doing a great job!

They are called Guest Fanatic cards, Magical Moments are for guests

I was on a solo trip at DL and was having a pretty good time. I do have a disability and need a wheelchair for longer distances but this day I tried just doing my leg brace and taking it really slow since I was alone. I wanted to finish up my short trip at pirates..honestly so I could just sit down for 10 minutes in a cool space! :thumbsup2 anyway, by this time, I was moving so slow I am surprised I wasnt moving backwards, and as I make my way slowly up the exit ramp with my GAC in hand, a pirate pirate: looked at me and said " ay there, maybe yer need one of these legs..it is as strong as a tree!' I look down and low and behold he is pointing to a REAL wooden peg leg! I laughed and said, yeah this one is slowin me down a bit, might borrow one from one of your friends in there( pointing to pirates) . He laughed, and "Arr'd" away to the autograph section for characters. Silly, true, but it made me smile, ESP. After a long day in the park. :goodvibes

After a bunch of really crappy bus rides all week to and from the parks :crazy2: we had a very memorable one. :cheer2: As I got onto the bus the driver noticed my anniversary button and wished us a happy anniversary, asked our names, where we are from and how many years. About halfway on our trip he played an anniversary song and sang to us in front of everyone. :mic: But that was not the end. When we got to our resort he got out of his seat and handed something to my husband. My hubby got down on one knee and proposed to me again and gave me this big blue "diamond" ring! :flower3: It was so great the whole bus cheered for us! That definately made up for all the horrible experiences we had on the buses all week!

My wife and I got engaged in MK. We went to city hall to get a pin and register then engagement. We got fast passes for anything we wanted. We used them for space mountain. The fast pass person asked our name and we gave it to them. When we got to the next fast pass person, inside, they asked our name and escorted us, and the rest of our party, to the front of space mountain. We didn't even have to wait in the fast pass line. So we got on SM and got stuck. The lights came on and we were there in the car with the lights on for about 5 minutes. Of course I took pictures and video, but was asked kindly to put it away. When we got off they escorted us back to the front of the ride to ride again. Great experience. Thanks Disney.

On our Disney honeymoon we had the bride and groom ears on. When we got off space ranger spin a CM asked us if we were on our honeymoon. We said yes and he gave us fast passes for SM and BTRR. Thanks Disney!

My son tripped in one of the stores today. Didn't even skin his knee but he was crying softly about it. A nice CM came up and gave him one of her pics. :goodvibes That was very sweet of her!

good grief. i couldn't even make it past page 4 before i started crying. this stuff gets me right in the feels.

This whole thread warms my heart :lovestruc

I'm going to be working in the UK Pavilion as a Cast Member from October, and I really hope that I can make magic for some guests the way other wonderful CMS have made it for so many of you.

What part of the real uk are you from? And I'm visiting oct 31- 14 nov. with my mum from Cardiff =]

On our trip last year, which was also our first, we went into the big pyramid at Epcot Mexico. We didn't even know what was in it but we wanted to check it out. My DS (4 at the time) was looking around at the little booths and we were just walking around. One of the CMs came up to us and asked my DS if he wanted to be a boat captain. Of course he did. So she walked us back to the Three Caballeros ride and let us go right to the front and ride in our own boat by ourselves. My DS who was having trouble w/ indoor rides b/c he was scared of them cried when we were getting off b/c he was still not too comfortable w/ the rides. She asked us if he wanted to ride again. I was so surprised. He didn't but she gave him a ton of stickers and we thanked her over and over for how nice she was. I love all the little things CMs do to make you feel special. It really makes the trip.
