Simple question....

I am new to this forum and have really found the DVC to be a very interesting concept. I had a simple question: Can you make reservations for two rooms at once? In other words, if I had enough points available and the rooms were available, could I rent a studio and a 2-bedroom unit during the same time period or can one owner only rent 1 unit (villa, 2-bed, etc.) during a specific time period? From what I read it appears you are only limited by room availability and points. If that is true, this is really very, VERY flexible! Am I right in this assumption?

Yes, as long as you have the points you can reserve as many rooms as want.

Thanks for the quick reply! Being able to get multiple rooms at once is great! It really opens up the possibility of traveling with a large group, etc. Thanks for your help.

The flexibility with DVC is great but it also will make you crazy at times! There are so many options. You can book a few nights, many nights, small rooms, big rooms, any DVC resort. Way back in the beginning of my membership I thought I was limited by the number of points I owned. Then I realized you can use other members points by renting them or transferring them in to your account (careful there - only allowed one transfer a year). Then there is the banking and borrowing.

But to me those many options are what makes it so fun to plan.

I have booked a 1BR and 2BR for an upcoming ladies trip. As long as you have the points, you can book more than 1 room.

We actually just bought 300 pts thinking we were going to use it for a grand villa every other year, but we decided for the timeframe we will most likely be going (school breaks/summer) we would be better off getting 1-2bd and 3 studios for our party of 12, and then when we are low on points, change it up to 1-2bd and 2 studios.

Being flexible helps because you must go into a reservation with a few resorts in mind! If you own at AKL but want to try BC you very well might end up at SSR or OKW! The more points you have to more time and options (for rooms) you'll have.

Shortypots, that is exactly what I was thinking! I was thinking it would be more "efficient" to get a bunch of studios than a grand villa. Of course, you don't get to have THE VILLA but a lot of studios would afford people privacy, etc.

Moredisneyplease, maybe I am just too easy to please... they all seem like they would be neat resorts in their own ways! None seem like resorts I would describe as "disappointing" (far from it!). To be fair, I have never been to WDW (my wife has) but I have been to Disneyland and have always enjoyed it. So, I am not really sure of all the differences between the resorts... I have only seen them on paper. I was hoping we (my family) could go to WDW sometime this fall and at least see the various resorts. Some unexpected "events" came up which might prevent it. We'll see.... (Sorry for rambling!).

Well, we decided on one 2 bd so that we at least have the washer and dryer and could potentially cook meals, or keep goodies for the kiddies. Then the remaining folks would get a studio. We have 5 individual "families" inside our main family of mom, dad, 3 siblings, and ourselves. So we figure with the 2bd and 3 studios everyone would technically have their own room. This way we also do not have to worry about people sleeping on couchs, nor us sleeping in the same room as kids!

It is also many less points to go in Magic season with this setup than the grand villa, which I am guessing is when we would end up going with the kiddies about to start school and my SIL being a teacher. Should be interesting since the kids will be year round and my SIL is on traditional schedule.
