Simple question about points

I'm about to close (resale) on 300 points at BWV and might do an add on in several months at BCV (through DVC). What is the minimum number of points to add on ? Will I be able to make 11 month reservations at BCV and transfer points from the BWV points to make up the difference if I need to ?

Min add on is 25 points cash and 50 points if you finance. You cannot bypass the 11 month priority window by owning at more than one resort.

If you own 300 at BWV and 50 at BCV, you could only use the 50 at 11 months at BCV. You could extend that by banking and borrowing BCV points, so you could have up to 150 at 11 months. You cannot use the BWV points at 11 months for BCV.

You would have to wait for the 7 month window, then you could use the Boardwalk points (I'm sure you already know that). But the strategy with a BCV add-on coule be, that you could bank and borrow to keep your BCV points for the peak seasons or hard to get reservation times at BCV, and then use your BWV points to stay at BCV in the 7 month window during those times when it is not peak season, a holiday or some other event that would have high demand. Of course, BWV is wonderful and I'm sure you'll really enjoy your stays there. You have a big advantage there of being able to book standard views and stretch your points out a little further, in addition to the beautiful resort, wonderful location, and tons of amenities.

I always thought you could add on any number of points if you were not financing. Is that only true if you add on at your home resort?

Unfortunately, not.

We have 480 right now. I'd LOVE to bring us to an even 500 - but there's no way to make it happen. You have to buy a minimum of 25 at a time. Beyond 25, the number does not need to be in any specific increments.

My DH thinks I'm insane....

Beth.... I have a good solution if you want an even number. Add on 120. That will give you 600.
