I am starting to look for bridesmaids dresses noe that i bought mine - yeah!!! I really want the dress to be something they can wear again to another wedding or formal event. I've looked around and just feel the dresses are too formal and can't be re-worn. Any suggestions? store ideas?
Please post pictures of any simple bridesmaids dresses here.

Chadwicks has this dress in sizes 4-13 for $35.00 (not a typo - $35.00)

I love this dress

I am going with Disney Dreams, Chadwicks has great dresses and they are not expensive, check out their web site, there are alot of choices!

Believe it or not, J.Crew has a lot of pretty, simple dresses. Many of them are on the pricey side, but many of them are on a clearance sale right now! www.jcrew.com

Banana Republic ( www.bananarepublic.com ) also has some lovely dresses:

- lightweight wool wrap dress, $148

- matte jersey dress, $198

- silk drape neck gown, $168

All of these would absolutely be able to be worn again; they're all classic and not bridesmaid-y. :)

be careful with chadwicks, make sure you order them way in advance. I have heard horror stories about them, so i made sure i ordered my going away dress 4 months in advance. well they said it would be in 3-4 weeks. 5 weeks later, nothing. I called they said it was backordered but I would have in 3 weeks or i could cancel the order. 3 weeks later it wasnt there. I called they said that it was shipped. Ok 2 weeks later still wasnt there. I call to cancel they say it was backordered so i canceled the order. 2 weeks later it was still on the credit card, so i called to complain again. they told me that I received it, so i couldnt take the charges off...WTH! I told them that I canceled the order because of the screw ups and that I never received the dress.... they finally credited my card.... i go out and buy a new going away dress..the day before my wedding I get a package in the mail, its the dress, the wrong color, wrong size, and they recharged my card for 2 dresses! I felt bad for lady I yelled at that day but that was just pure idoitcy, but i finally got recredited the $$ and they paid for shipping to return the dress...

this one is very pretty, classic $180.00. don't knowif you want cream and black though...

(Is there a 12 step program I can join about this??)

I am getting mine through Alfred Angelo... it is the seperates collection, which seems to be working well with everyone's body type, plus it's something that I think they could use again.

they come in a bunch of different colors and are very affordable!

I went into the Jessica McKlintock store by me and found a pile of dresses that were under $150 for my girls... I am having 4 bridesmaids - all different sizes and my daughter is the Jr. Bridesmaid :flower: These dresses are simple and one of the girls actually has one in a different color (not anywhere near my color scheme unfortunately) and has worn it to several other formal events. Very simple and fits on everyone's figure. Lots of colors too.

I am using dresses from JCrew. They have gone up a bit in price since I bought them, but their new special events department has been super-nice and the girls loved the dresses when they got them. They were not the cheapest ever, but all the girls were fine with that because they got to pick out their own style (I just picked color) and feel like they will wear them again.

I would recommend Chadwicks. I was in a wedding a couple of years ago where our bridesmaid dresses came from Chadwicks. The dresses were beautiful and cost around $69-$79. I know that the Chadwicks people worked with the bride to make sure that the dresses would match perfectly, to get the best sizes for each maid and to ship the dresses out promptly. There were no problems.

Don't know your budget, but my Maid of Honor is wearing a Vera Wang. It was $230 (the other choice was $200). It has very simple lines and is VERY classy looking. They have a long and short version of it. Don't have link to it, but check out Vera Wang website and Maids dresses. They are very attractive compared to others we saw. Just picked up my Maids dress yesterday and could not be more pleased. We have very sophisticated, but fun Vow Renewal in December and it fits perfect.

We used www.ariadress.com and a couple of my girls have worn their again. It was a simple knee length a-line in a dark charcoal color. Some were strapless, some had spagetti straps--the girls got to choose.

I needed to vent about bridesmaid dresses and thought this would be the best place! I have been looking for simple bridesmaid dresses that would be reasonable for my bridesmaids. I really want a dress they will love and want to wear again. I thought I found it last night. However, I was upset and disappointed that the only sample size that any stores in my area carry are size 8. NOthing against Size 8's, but what do the rest of the girls do who are bigger than that? My maid of honor is a size 16 and the stores had nothing for her to try on that was even close! I don't want the grils to buy a dress that they don't even know what it will remotely look like on them! Even if it was close we could estimate and know it will look good on their body types. It makes me so mad! Did anyone else go through this? I know that David's Bridal carries bigger samples, but I want a light blue color scheme and they don't have that color. Here is the link to the dress i like.

Luvndisney - that is the way that bridal stores work. They cary a sample, otherwise their overhead would be insane. They do the same thing with wedding dresses. My MOH is a 14-16 as well and we had no idea what it would look like until it got to her. Take along a friend or a bridesmaid that is about an 8 (which is anywhere from a womens 4-8 depending on the dress manufacturer) and have them try it on.

A simple a-line dress flatters all figures and is usually the best choice. Also realize that pretty much everyone's dress is going to need to be altered as bridal stores order them to the largest measurement - 36" bust, 28" waist, 36" hips... if the size 4 has a 36" bust and hips but a 24" waist, they will order the next sized one with the 26" waist even if the bust and hips are 40".
