Simon,

Do you have any more details on this that is in the Brits Guide thread?

'and an even more daring Shark Dive opportunity, where you go down into the shark tank in a special steel cage (more details to follow)'

Here you go Karen --- you can book online

Sharks Deep Dive

Sharks. The mere thought of these creatures elicits fear and wonder from anyone considering a swim in the world’s oceans. Now guests can experience these feelings up close during Sharks Deep Dive.

Located at the Shark Encounter attraction, this awe-inspiring 2-hour experience immerses guests into the fascinating realm of these perfect predators. Participants don SeaWorld wetsuits and either snorkel or scuba dive (proof of scuba certification required on day of program) in an authentic shark cage during their close encounter. The cage traverses through a through a 125-foot long underwater habitat teeming with an array of more than 50 sharks, including sandtiger sharks, nurse sharks, sawfish, and thousands of schooling fish.

The program includes a t-shirt, Shark Information booklet and snorkel. Program requires park admission or Passport membership. Participants must be a minimum of 10 years of age.

Program cost:
$150 per person, includes tax, for the Scuba option (must provide current scuba certification)
$125 per person, includes tax, for the Snorkel option

Space is limited - reserve today by calling 407-363-2380 or toll free 1-800-406-2244

Nice work, JJ. And I can confirm this is an amazing experience (even tho' it's not cheap!). The whole programme is very educational and you will learn a lot about sharks, but it is also a genuine thrill to go into the cage and get mesmerised by all the sharks swimming around you (not to mention waving to all the people who can see you in the walk-through tube!). It is very well organised down to the smallest details (good-quality bath products when you get to shower and change afterwards), and the T-shirt is a real collectors' item. The best bit, though? You get to wear a wetsuit with 'Scubapro' on the front :teeth:

(PS: I have only tried the snorkel version; basically, you don;t worry about the snorkel, just about holding your breath for as long as possible! If you are scuba-certified, this would be even better, I think).

We were going to do DC and made the mistake of telling my 12 year old cousin about the snorkelling near sharks behind the glass screen thing and she was really looking forward to it. However we have now cancelled our planned DC visit to offset some of the cost of the 3 night Bahamas cruise on DCL where we will do Dolphin Swim in Nassau. This activity would make a great surprise for my ecited but a teeny weeny bit disappointed about missing shark viewing cousin!

Anyway, she is 12 - would she need to be accompanied by an adult from our party? How long does the snorkelling activity last?

Cheers
Mel

jjcollins,
you mention that this can be booked online.
Have you a link as I cannot find out about this item.
I can find a link for buying someone a gift certificate for this attraction but nothing about what dates are available and how to book online.

Thanks
cslogg
