SIMON Gift Card Usage

Our DD got a couple of Simon VISA Gift cards from her grandparents to use on our upcoming cruise. I tried to call them in to put credit on our account but they would not go through the DCL computers.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use these cards at check in or for payment before departing??

Isn't Simon the malls?? Does it say those can be used anywhere or just at Simon malls?

I think they act like a gift certificate only at Simon Mall stores.

No, you can use them any where they take visa cards. I have used them before but you need to tell htem the exact amount that is on to use. That is the trick.

Yes the card is a "real" VISA, we have used them before as gifts. Occasionally there has been problem with some stores or web sites.

I had already verified the balance on the SIMON web site and did tell DCL exactly what amount to charge with no luck.

I guess I will try it at check in.

We had Simon cards worth $100.00 that we took on our cruise in December. I took them to Customer Service while on the ship, and after 30 minutes of trying, the rep apologized and said that Disney couldn't use them because our names weren't imprinted on the cards themselves. I would take them to the Disney Store before you leave and use them to purchase Disney Dollars that can be used on the ship!!

The Simon Visa cards stink.....Even using them in the mall is such a hassle. One place not to use them in are Restaurants, because even if you know the exact amount, for some reason the restaurants do something with tipping, adding a certain percentage to your credit card (Simon Visa) just in case you don't leave a tip for the server, how rude of them to do that, right? So if your restaurant check is for $45.99 and you have a $50.00 Simon Visa, you cannot use that Visa card because it wouldn't be enough for the restaurant to tack on a 15% tip. The restaurants are allowed to do that!

I agree with the last poster, to go to the Disney store in the mall and trade them in for Disney Dollars!! Otherwise, you'll be setting your daughter up for dissappointment. It was very nice for the grandparents to think of her by getting the cards, though!

Thanks for the help. The Disney Dollars is a great idea (since the cards were bought at the mall with the Disney Store they should work fine).

We alread have more Disney Dollars that we got for booking, so this works out perfect.
