Has anyone ever seen this movie?
It was on the Family Channel (Canadian channel that plays mostly DC and Nick shows) last night, I caught it about a third into it.
And I absolutely loved it. It's not a real well known movie, as far as I know.

It's about this kid who doesn't have a father, and his best friend Simon is I guess, you could say a midget. It's set in the 60's so people are sympathetic of Simon, they think he's a monster. But Simon believes he was put on the Earth to be a hero. He believes that he's an instrument of God, and that God had a plan for him to do something heroic. Nobody believes him, but he keeps his faith.
Simon is lippy, but he's the best friend that the other kid could have.

It's kind of a hate/love movie for me really. There's a lot of death, I was crying through the entire movie, it was ridiculously sad.

We watched it in religion in grade 9, i cried through the whole thing. Its a good movie, but really sad

I knew how it was going to end.
It was inevitable from the point when Simon, the kid and Ben were sitting outside and Ben says something like 'Don't worry you're only twelve, you've got your whole life ahead of you.'
And Simon said he didn't really.
Foreshadowing is evvil, I was already crying come this point, but this just made it worse.

Read "A Prayer for Owen Meany"
Simon Birch is just a REALLY poorly adapted version of that book.

The book is amazing.

I am thinking of reading it.
I'll have to read it sometime when no one else is home.
I bawled for a really long time last night, the book will be ten times sadder... so I'll probably be crying for the entire day ;]

I've seen the movie, but I have never read the book.
Mom has read it though.
She said it was much more detailed and really different.

Simon Birch is in the category with Titanic...they make me cry because someone always dies...no matter how much you want the movie to change it's permently there and you can't change it...

I watched it a couple of years ago and I remember bits and pieces. It made me sad, I didn't cry because I wasn't at that age to understand it that deeply.

But it's right up there with My Girl. Makes me sad everytime.

My Girl ALWAYS makes me cry.
Always.
