My DD5 really wants to go on EE but i thought i might try something similar to it at wonderland. Any suggestions. She will be tall enough on our trip in Dec.,

She has gone on Splash Mountain, BTMR and enjoyed both. I have been on EE and not sure. She really wants to do it but Mom is very paranoid ;)

I don't know which Wonderland ride would be comparable but last year we took our DD6 on EE and she found it a bit scary. I think the thing that scared her was the part where it went backwards and the dark tunnels. I didn't know about the backwards aspect of the ride or I would have warned her.

I think you should tell her what will happen so she knows what to expect. If she still wants to go then go ahead - children will surprise you. An option might be showing her a youtube video of it.

Have a good trip,
Jon

Well for starters, Splash and Big Mountain are very tame compared to Everest.

Everest is similar the The Bat at Wonderland in that it goes backwards. Which is the most intense part of the ride and as a result, Everest is not for everyone.

For what it's worth ... I REFUSE to ride The Bat at CW, but did ride EE at AK! I much preferred EE to TopGun if that helps at all ... then again, EE has no loops! The backwards part of EE wasn't so bad really!! (I plan on riding EE again this trip.)

I hate roller coasters, but I do all things Disney ;) and I actually really liked EE. I found it really smooth, and although there is a drop at the end of the ride, it's not a stomach through-the-throat feeling. The backwards aspect is pretty tame but I could see how it would upset those who didn't know it was coming.

All that being said, my thrill-riding DDs (6 and 8) who will go on every Wonderland thrill ride they can get on, hated EE. The reason ... add the element of scary monster (albeit in cartoon shadow only) and they lose it! :scared1: The backwards part is all in the dark too. Maybe the question should be how did your child fair on Snow White's Scary Adventures. ;)

As a previous poster mentioned, check out the clips on You Tube to get a feel for it. Like I said, mine LOVED Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Primeval whirl, and Rockin' Roller Coaster ... but the fear factor got them on this one.

My DD did fine on Snow white and HMansion and she knows about the YETI which my DD9 told her ;) but i just can't bring myself to let her ride, but that is the only ride she wants to go on now that she is tall enough :headache:

Think Thunder Run i.e. train in a dark tunnel through a mountain, but with a long climb and a couple of long sweeping drops - but not stomach in the mouth type drops (and one of them is backwards). There really is no comparison between Disney rides and Wonderland (went to Wonderland on Monday, and rode all the rides), Wonderland rides do not involve a story and for the most part, shake you to death. The Disney rides have extensive themeing and are super smooth.

While the BAT does go backwards, it doesn't do it in the dark, so it doesn't really compare AND I don't think a 5 year old could get on the BAT.

I agree with previous poster, Thunder Run, into the Wonderland mountain in the dark is a better comparison AND a 5 year old could go on that.

Any roller coast at Wonderland with a big dip will be okay to try as a comparison, even Ghoster Coaster in Kidsville.

I think if your dd wants to go on EE, then that's good enough to give it a try!

My kids love it!

While the BAT does go backwards, it doesn't do it in the dark, so it doesn't really compare

There are only two rides I've ever been on in my life where I felt like I was going to pass out; The Bat and Everest. Coincidently on both, the part of the coaster where I saw spots, got hot and sweaty knowing I was about to pass out was on the BACKWARDS portion of each ride.

Hence the reason I made the comparison. If backwards motion bothers you, Everest will bother you. Motion sickness has nothing to do with if it's in the dark or not. :)
