So this is my backup backup backup plan of course, but does anyone know whether the babycenters or resorts (specifically Beach Club) carry Similac Alimentum formula?

We are bringing some in suitcase, ordering some from Garden Grocer in the comments section (not listed in the online ordering), and could take a cab somewhere if necessary...BUT..... I was just wondering if anyone had firsthand knowledge of this formula being available for purchase.

Thanks in advance!! :grouphug:

Both of my kids were on that in the beginning and I have never seen it at Disney. I would call the BC and ask, but I would be sure to bring plenty in the suitcase. Have a great trip.

My youngest was on that when we went to WDW, and I looked at the Poly. There was just a basic small can of powdered formula, no Alimentum or Nutramigen. Maybe try a pharmacy that would deliver?

Thank you for the replies. I emailed Garden Grocer and they said put it in the comments section..No mention that they couldn't get it. They do have other similac formulas, but I'm nervous.

And..I'm of course worried about losing a suitcase if I pack it or losing in transit if I ship it ahead to the hotel before we arrive...

In the past, we carried enough 4 oz ready to feed bottles (VERY Convenient) in a carry-on but with the new FAA regulations I think they would give me a hard time. Maybe not if I explain its not commonly available?

I would REALLY consider calling the resort you're staying at and explain that it is a necessity. Perhaps they can get you to a local pharmacy that can deliver. My own child was on Nutramigin years ago for 3 years and OH, what a job that was. Good Luck!!

Thanks. I will contact them. They must have pharmacys that deliver.

My husband just brought me down from the ledge as I'm getting myself worked up about this :scared: .."Umm...its Orlando not the Fiji Islands..We'll be able to get her formula" :lmao:

My dd is on Neocate and we ended up taking 7 cans w/ us (she uses a can about every 2.5days) and I wanted extras. We took 3 cans on the airplane in case our luggage got lost and no one ever said anything. It's a rx formula so we knew we were going to be in big trouble if we didn't bring enough.

We were there in Dec and the Garden Grocer can get it just call ahead of time. I feel your stress both of my boys were on that. Does your insurance cover the formula? They will if you get a doctors note. At least we did we had Blue Cross.... alot of people do not know they will cover fomula, save your recipts if you have not applyed and they usualy will reimburse you. Sorry my spelling is terrible!!!!!!! Good Luck!

OH wow! I am calling TriCare tomorrow. DS is on Alimentum now and was previously on Nutramigen. I am nursing him too so thankfully he is only supplemented because this stuff is pricey!

We leave next week. I plan on carrying 2 cans of the powder with me even though DS prefers the Ready To Feed. The powder is so much easier to deal with when traveling.

Thanks! I am in the process of trying to get it covered. My ped has written a note and I have appealed to my insurance company to cover it. Its over the counter so they have said its not covered. It is pricey!! I had to stop BF because my bloodpressure was out of control..tried a bunch of different medication but the only stuff that will work has skull and crossbones for pregnancy and BF. DD couldn't tolerate the milk based ones and threw up the soy..This is the only one that works. Its been a lot of fun :rolleyes1

$9 a day for the ready-mix stuff is unbelievable.

DH called a few pharmacys in the WDW area and they all have stock so I'm feeling better. I'm sure what we bring + the garden grocer will be more than sufficient.

What insurance company is it.......I ask b/c I work for insurance, and most of the major ones will cover this.....as long as there is documentation from the pediatrician. You do have to get the formula from a pharmacy though. My middle DS was on Alimentum too....Such fun, but free formula was a nice little benefit.:cool1: He qualified for an IEP too, so now we are getting free preschool, too:cheer2: (He was slightly behind in speech, but he chirps up a storm now!!! Maybe he just didn't have anything to say?:rolleyes1 )

Its blue cross-blue shield/managed pharmacy Medco. They way they explained it was its not necessarily the insurance co but the Employer that determines what coverage it has for its employees? :confused3 Which is why I had to appeal??

My neice was on Nutramigen for Acid reflux and they had it covered.

They have 15 days apparently to respond and its been 7

You shouldn't have any problems with the ready to feed bottles. DS is on Nutramigen and we went to WDW in Apr and again in Aug. Both times we brought 4 Nutramigen nursette bottles in the diaper bag. I also brought some empty bottles and a can of powder, just in case. When you go through security, you just have to tell the person working there that you have baby formula and take it out of your bag to show them. We had no issues with it on either trip.

Also, I called Enfamil and ordered enough nursettes for the week and had them shipped to our resort. That way I didn't have to worry about finding a place near WDW that sells Nutramigen. Perhaps you could call Similac and see if they can ship to your resort?

Have a great trip!
