Does anyone have any experience of Silverjet? We are considering them for the return of our QM2 cruise to New York in August. I have searched high and low but can't find their baggage allowance...does anyone know?

Thanks

Haven't travelled on Silverjet, but they are supposed to be very good (unbeatable one way pricing for a proper business class too). Baggage allowance info here - http://www.flysilverjet.com/help-baggage-information.aspx

If you wanted something cheaper you could look at Maxjet, but Silverjet will be leagues ahead of Maxjet (which isn't true business class really - no flat beds). If I was doing a one way cruise (like a QM2 transatlantic), I would look to book Silverjet.

I havent travelled with them but know friends ho have and they rave about them! They look very good and great prices!

Dont know if this will help or is its still valid but you can try.

Book any Silverjet flight for travel between July 1st and September 15th, even our incredible value £999 saver return, and we will give you £100 off any round trip booking.

To book, simply go to www.flysilverjet.com, enter promotion code 100DAYS, and discover many more reasons why Silverjet is the best way to cross the Pond.

Thanks for the deal info, but it's only one way home from NY and Cunard will do the booking.

I'll try and arrange it tomorrow.

All booked, and at £299pp ....... a bargain!

That is an amazing price! You will be completely spoilt :)

What a fantastic trip - hope that you have a great time :thumbsup2

Any chance of a trip report when you get back?

a few of my colleagues flew with them back when they first started up, all reviews were very good, even those that regularly fly UC and BA first

Sorry for the aside, but love your new signature picture, Carol. Brings back memories, "Jessica Rabbit" used to be a nickname of mine at school :rotfl:

Thank you for that link Alice. It certainly looks as though they are very real competition for BA and VA in Business and I look forward to my flight in August.

Brilliant airline and fantastic service, would thoroughly recommend them. Only one main drawback - they do not go to Orlando!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How I wish they did. Have a brilliant holiday it sounds fantastic.

Sounds great - shame they only fly between London and New York, though!

I'm looking for a decent flight to LA - any suggestions?

Hhhhhmmm, Maxjet fly to Las Vegas - how about a few days there then fly on to LA? The seats on Maxjet aren't as good as Silverjet, but would be better than BA/VS in WT+/Premium Economy. Maxjet fly from Stansted.

Actuall, according to their website (http://www.maxjet.com/homeAction.do), Maxjetc will start a non-stop service from Stansted to LA on August 30th.

Maxjet isn't competitive with other "business classes" seatwise (i.e. both BA and Virgin have seats that turn into flat beds), but the lounges/food/service does look great :). AND you are looking at about only £775 (including taxes) for Stansted to LAX return: that is cheaper than PE or WT+ and the Maxjet product looks quite a lot better. If Stansted is convenient for you, definitely looks worth considering...

You could even look at flying into LAS and out of LAX or vice versa... (for £50 per person more than flying STN-LAX-STN). If you are looking at a holiday trip, then that could be fun (a few days in Las Vegas, a 5 hour drive through the dessert to LA, and a week or so in LA before flying home)...

The only complaint I have heard about Maxjet is the fact they only have one aircraft, so can be susceptable to delays.
But most people who have used them seem very happy, al la BMI

That's exactly what we plan to do next summer. :thumbsup2 IMO it's got to be worth giving it a go for the savings. Also it's more convenient for us to fly from Stansted as we want to go into LAX and out from LAS. If we did that with VA, we'd have to fly out from LHR and in to LGW which could be v dull. :sad2: Previously we've flown to LAX on VA UC but the cost is looking  so, as we're going for 3 weeks, we figure we'd rather save some £££... :woohoo:

How strange I see you live in Swindon, so do I!

Thanks for the info.
