I’m silver and planning to book tomorrow for the newly released Wonder cruises. We are traveling with a family on their first cruise. I’ve read I can book and put one of my family members in their room so they have access to silver status early booking, etc. then change at port. Can someone explain how this works?

We want three specific rooms next to each other. I’d probably book:
Room 1: NM (new mom) and SK (silver kid); Room 2: SM (silver mom), SK, SK;
Room 3: SD (silver dad), ND (new dad), Nk, Nk (new kid).

Then plan to swap NM and SD at port. Can we also switch anytime before final payment if one of us plans to cancel for any reasons?

thx! Hope I explained this clearly enough.

Yes, it's clear. I believe, if your switch out creates a room with no silvers in it, you won't be able to book activities for that room at the same time as you would book activities for the silver room.

They said they wouldn't switch the people in the rooms back until at the port.

After you get through testing, security, and initial check-in, you'll head upstairs into the waiting area. There's a wall of check in desks to the left. Go to the one at the far end (15 or 16) and talk to the manager working there. She can swap you around and print new keycards for your cruise. The change takes effect instantly, so everyone be able to log into the app with the new stateroom numbers and all that. However, the *reservation* will still have the old configuration, so your list of cruises on the Castaway Club website won't change and some other things might be weird (e.g. which name appears on the tip sheet at the end).

If the check in manager doesn't print new cards, then guest services can print them for you once you've boarded. Just tell them that you got the wrong cards.

Which means that everyone must attend the muster drill location for the room they are actually registered in.

Yeah, well, kind of. Your phone app will have your new stateroom number and the new muster drill station. But, the crew member checking you off the list will have the old information. So, if your muster drill station changes when you switch staterooms, then you'll probably have to go to both stations and explain what happened. That's what I did last week.

You'll need to go through Covid testing according to the reservations, too. The room swap doesn't happen until after that.

And, the new people won't get silver lanyards even though they're in silver rooms. Only the gift works that way. So, if you want lanyards for everyone, then bring some old ones.

I don't believe you can switch the primary name on a room -- so NM as the only adult in that stateroom cannot be switched out without cancelling and rebooking.

I'm not sure - at some point, "lead" name was determined to mean "at least one of the names on the original reservation must remain for the reservation to be valid". I don't know if they've changed it back to an actual "primary" or "lead" name.

I switched the lead name on my room last week. Not on the reservation, of course, but there's no reason to change it there. Just do it at the terminal.

So if I book a room with 2 Silver and 2 first Timers, will we all get a lanyard or just the 2 that are repeat guests? 1

You'll get one lanyard of the appropriate color for each guest. So, you'll get 2 silver lanyards. The other two guests won't get lanyards.
