Tell me about this Florida spot!

They have a buy one get one free ticket offer at the gate, which makes it 17 bucks or so per person.

This may be a good day trip for us instead of Gatorland??

I would love to hear reviews from anyone who has visited! Thanks!

I was there a number of years ago now but it was really lovely and quiet. The glass bottom boat rides (water is very very clear) were really a good way to chill out and the animals looked well cared for and healthy.

I would say its a good way to spend a nice relaxing day out away from the main parks. In fact I recommended it to a PP on another thread.

So the main attractions are the glass bottom boat rides and seeing the animals? Half price there is better than the glass bottom boat rides around kissimmee, so if that is something the family wants to do, maybe we should plan on spending a day here!

I saw the website for Silver Springs, but didn't find it all that helpful....other than the deal for tickets.

What is a day like there? thanks!

I would say a day would be enough to do most of the things on offer and its not the sort of place that you rush around either. Its a nice break from the lines and the crowds. Plus with it being set around water and all the trees its nice and cool as well.
They do a couple of different boat rides and there are a couple of sort of fair ground rides as well. I would rather spend money going there than going to Gator land.

Got the following off their website.
Six of the original Tarzan movies, starring Johnny Weissmuller, were filmed on location at Silver Springs.

I live 30 min from there and buy the season passes.Mostly for the concerts they have. But Silver Springs us a real gem.Very queit and beautiful old Florida. And the oldest theme park around!!
If you have a chance go see it..:thumbsup2

As an Ocala/Silver Springs resident, I'd like to suggest you come pump some money into our local economy:thumbsup2

While I have not been to Silver Springs in many years, I know many who go quite often and love it. I think it lost a bit of its luster over the last few years, as it went through some ownership issues, but they seem to be making it just fine. If you're concerned there isnt enough to do, there is also a water park next door named Wild Waters, and I'm sure they have a 2 in 1 ticket as well.

Any other questions about it or the local area, just let me know;)

Actually, Wild Waters has a heck of a deal , coupled with the local radio station....though Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon will already have sucked most of my waterpark money and enthusiasm by then!

I just wasnt' sure WHAT there is to do, period, at Silver Springs.
Glass bottom boats, a nature area, a flower garden area, a few carnival rides? Does that cover it?
