Which would you choose? A 1 BR at Silver Lake or a 2 BR at Summer Bay? Also, which is more quiet?

:)

Niether for my family of four. But, if I had to, I'd probably take the Silver Lake 1BR---especially if it was the floorplan with the two pull-out couches.

If it were 2BRs at both places, Silver Lake hands down.

What don't you like about Summer Bay?

Unfortunately it's only 1 pullout couch at Silver Lake. But we would have more room than a hotel room right? I have a family of 4, also.

We had a one bedroom at Silver Lake. It is alot bigger than a hotel room. There was only one pull out sofa. We didn't need it because it was just two of us, but it was nice sized. The kitchen was what you would expect in a time-share. The bathroom (only 1) was huge with a jacuzzi tub and a shower. There was also a balcony. It was very nice.

I think it's a little bit far for a Disney-centric vacation, and of the three sections (Villas, Condominiums, Houses) Villas is the least-positively reviewed.

We just got back from Orlando on Saturday. We spent three nights in a Summer Bay condo and three nights at POR. We loved the condo and would do that again in a heartbeat. It had a full kitchen, washer / dryer, large master suite, two doubles in the second bedroom, large living / dining room area. Our room at POR (Alligator Bayou Bld 14) would have fit in the living / dining room of the Summer Bay condo. We also enjoyed the pools there. Karaoke was fun - very family oriented.

Didn't care for the layout of the master suite. It was an open space plan with no separate room for the toilet. Maybe it's just me, but I like a little privacy. The drive is certainly further but not bad.

We have decided that for our family of five, we will go with condos or rental homes from now on. We just need the room and enjoy having our own kitchen.

AGREE!! We stayed at Summer Bay years ago and the one thing that always stuck out in my memory was how far away it seemed. We stayed at Silver Lakes (in a 2 bedroom) this past May and loved everything about it! Our unit had recently been remodeled. They were in the process of changing out the pull out sofas so we had an old one still. The pool area was nice (heated in May), the staff was extremely helpful and you might as well be on WDW property in regards to distance. I vote for Silver Lakes!

I have stayed at Summer Bay in the past and I thought they had great entertainment nightly for us adults and the kids.
I liked having the extra bedroom for the kids and the playground/water area was great.

**beware of the door locks: we closed and locked the door behind us when unpacking and my 3 year old son turned the door handle (which apparently unlocks the door) and tried to get out.

We really like Summer Bay. It's a bit more of a drive, but not enough to be a deal breaker. If there are four or more of you, I'd go for the 2br. We have six, so somebody is always on the sofa bed in the living room. That means I can't get up early in the morning without disturbing them.

Same problem here. My only major complaint. We kept chairs in front of the door at night to make sure my disabled son didn't go out while we were sleeping. He never wanders at night, but it made me very nervous.
