Hello everyone. Just made reservations for Pop Century with dream maker. Is the silver plan a good idea? How does it work? What I really want to know is it worth it? Thanks.

For my family it has always been a good value but you have to plan it out to be sure it is. I am sure someone around here knows the exact amount the silver "wishes" you spend are worth. We planned big expensive meals that were worth more than $30 (the approx. value of a wish). We also did not use the kids wishes on their meals - we paid cash and used their wishes on things like boat rentals and tours. If we are using a counter service restaurant we always pay cash.

Sometimes we come out way ahead and some times it is just about even. I like the convience of having things prepaid with my package. I still have to have some money for the kids meals and fast food but all of the big bills are taken care of with our wishes so they are paid for ahead of time.

I say that anyone thinking about it needs to plan it all out and estimate what their actual cost would be. Then, take a look at how much the add on costs you.

Our family will always use the add on package when we stay at the hotels. This upcoming trip we are not getting it because we will be in a villa with a kitchen but our trip after that we will be at the Polynesian and will definately add it back on.

Good Luck
Jen

You have to do a little pencil pushing and decide for yourself based on what you'd use the wishes for. The silver add-on costs you an extra $68 per night, which means each wish is worth $34. As long as you'll be spending at least $34 for whatever you're using the wish for you'll come out even or save money. I don't know who all is going on your trip, but keep in mind that kids' wishes are cheaper, but can be used by adults, so that would actually make all the wishes worth more.

For us, the silver plan was a savings. We went on the Keys to the Kingdom tour (regularly $58 a person), the Hidden Treasures of the World Showcase tour (regularly $58 a person), went to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue (about $50 a person), the Spirit of Aloha Luau (about $50 a person) and saw the Cirque du Soleil (about $80 a person, and cost two wishes). For us this meant a savings of around $90 per person. Usually things like tours, shows and spa treatments are worth the money, but things like meals aren't - unless you can eat $34 worth of food.

Check out mosuesavers.com for some ways to make the most out of your wishes and look at allearsnet.com for info on prices of this so you can add up what you want to do and see how the price compares between getting the plan and buying things individually.

Also, I thought I'd let you know that we split our six-night trip into two reservations for three nights each. That way we only paid for the add-on for three days and still got to do everything we wanted.

:wave: Hi:)
The other postings seem to have a good handle on how much the wishes are worth and how much a person saves by using them.
My sister and I went to WDW on the Fairytale Package Silver Plan last July and felt it was worth it. We used it for our meals, character meals, dinner shows and the Cirque du Soleil. It was our first time we ever stayed on property so we made the most of it.:)
I took her last summer as a sort of "pretrip" for our vacation this next summer and we are very glad we were able to go.
It was just the two of us and she was more aware of how we spent our wishes than I was. She seemed to understand it better. If you decided to use the silver plan be sure to keep track of how many wishes you have and how many you spend.
From what I remember reading on other threads about the silver plan its a matter of convienence more than about it being a bargain. I can't tell you if we saved any money or not, but we sure had a good time and do plan on using it again this next summer. I would like to take advantage of the tours that are offered when we go again if I have the time. We do not golf so that part was of no use to us.
I think it just depends on your family and what you enjoy doing.
Good luck on your decision and have a wonderful time at WDW
::yes:: :wave2:
