Silly WL Question

Taking a look at a map of a bunk bed room, it looks like the bathroom is right next to the bunk wall. Staying in the AS Music you could hear other people flushing their toilets/taking showers very well. Not enough to wake you up but you could certainly hear it when you were in the room. That said, with my kids sleeping in the bunks (please, let them sleep!!) is the bathroom noise better muffled in a deluxe hotel.

Silly question I know!!

I'm not sure what you mean, but I'll try to answer because we had a bunk bed room Dec 2006.

If you're talking about hearing the bathroom in your own room, then I'd say yes, you can hear it very well, not only from the bunk beds but from anywhere in there. Those toilets whooosh!

But if you mean you're worried about hearing the bathroom next door, that wasn't a problem for us. We had a connecting room even, and never heard any noise from that direction either. The only noise we heard was when kids would occasionally run down the hall, shouting. But that would happen at any resort, I think.

We always stay in bunkbed rooms when we stay at the WL. We do tend to hear the early morning showers of connecting rooms, but we've not noticed others flushing the toilet. Even the early morning shower sounds don't wake our kids.

I'm just worried mostly about when dh and I take showers in the morning while the kids are still sleeping--if the noise would wake them up since the bunks appear to be right next to that wall. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Great news!! My kids are decent sleepers though they've never slept in bunks before (dd5 can't wait!! she gets the top bunk and ds 2 will get the bottom with bed rails) and I was just wondering if they'd be woken 'easily'.

Not sure if all the rooms are the same, but ours was the bathroom with the tub and toilet in seperate room, you then had a double sink in an area by it self about 3 -4 feet wide then a wall, on the opposite side of this wall was the bunk beds. So the bunk beds are not against the wall with the tub. I thought it was great, I put a chair in this area with the sink and I was able to sit and read while the girls went to sleep, much nicer than having to sit in the bathroom waiting for the girls to go to sleep.

Though the room below has two queens the floor plan is the same, you can see the seperate room and then the double sink area.

I'll try to help you out since we stayed in a bunk bed room in 2004.

Yes, you could hear the toilet flushing in your own room.

No, you couldn't hear it if it was in another room.

The reason you hear it in your own room is because they are high pressure toilets that make noise.

You might hear it if everything is really quiet, but it isn't the super turbo flush of the all star music.

Hi--We just got back from a bunkbed room at WL (loved it!) and also our kids are 5 and 2. Yes, the toilet can be a little loud and the rooms are not huge but our kids never woke up because I had bought a small fan as soon as we got to the hotel (offsite at a Walgreen's) because we are all kind of used to sleeping with "white noise" anyway and I wanted it to drown out the bathroom and hallway noises (there were none there). It worked great. The bunkbeds were a huge hit too. Yes, as someone else mentioned the vanity area is between the bunkbed wall and the closed off toilet/shower area also. Have a great time!

Thank you so much for all the responses. I'd looked at the map but I must have completely missed that sep. room area. dur! November can't come soon enough!!!

This is totally selfish and non-eco-friendly of me, but here was my strategy for white noise generation when we were there in December.

I changed the thermostat to 68 before we left every morning, and then before bed I lowered it to 62. That pretty much kept it on all night, and gave us a nice temperature for sleeping.

We did the same thing in December. I never heard flushing or shower noises in 10 days.
However, I DID hear the horribly loud people who were on the other side of the connecting door! That will be the first thing I request when I check in next time-a room without a connecting door.

I have two simple things that help with any hotel/motel room external noise, closing the door going into the bathroom cuts down on most plumbing issues. (This even worked @ Pop Century)

When I find myself in a connecting room I open the first door of the connecting doors and place a towel under the opening at the bottem of the doorway with most of the towel remainig on my side of the door, placed so the opening is covered by the excess towel in my room. These two little things work everytime.

Ah, thank you! I'll keep those in my "Vacation Notes" file. :thumbsup2

The toilets you will hear in your room.....no biggie close door...

My only complaint at WL AT ALL is the new
fan in bathroom goes on and off at its own discretion...

Annoyed me....my DD didnt notice at all....

The beds are against the wall where the sinks are. The stool and tub/shower is in a different room beyond the "sink room". I have stayed at the WL about 25 times and have never had a noise problem with bathrooms.
