Silly Time Zone Question

Hello! I have never cruised before and was wondering....is the time in Bahamas the same as in Florida? That would mean all the times listed for excursions, etc. would be Florida time as well? Thanks!

Yes, The Bahamas are in the Eastern Time Zone, and observe the same daylight savings time as in the U.S., so the ship's clock will not change on the 3- or 4-day cruises.

The ship's clock does change on the 7-day cruises, varying based on east vs. west and whether or not you're sailing during daylight savings time.

The Daily Navigator and the Cruise Director are very good at telling you when there is a time change.

yes, the 7 day can be challenging. We were on the Oct 26 cruise last year so we boarded during Eastern Daylight Savings Time which changed that night to Eastern Standard Time (got that extra hour on the trip), then we went backwards for Grand Cayman and Cozumel and forward again returning to Castawy Cay. The navigators were very helpful in figuring out what time it was

However, you are on vacation and except for missing dinner, a show or an excursion, you really don't care what time it is....

Not only are the Bahamas in the same time zone, but they observe Daylight Savings Time on the same schedule as Florida.

Figuring out time zones is a little trickier for the 7-day cruises because not only do you cross time-zone lines, but not all areas that the Magic call on observe Daylight Savings Time.
