we are eating at Crystal Palace Buffet. My son is going to turn 10 the day we get to Disney, but i had him added as an adult so he could enjoy the free dining without restrictions, they gave me the option of doing it either way.

That being said i wanted to pay oop for 2-3 meals (for Cali grill, 50's PT, Kona or maybe CP) he eats very little (i swear he only wieghs 52lbs..ugh) He mostly likes chicken fingers...french fries and salad and fettucini alfredo and all kinds of seafood. Wont touch veggies (sigh again) and likes only vanilla ice cream or ice cream cone for dessert. Are the buffets set up for kids meals? Would we need to pay full adult price for him, or can he eat off the kids section (or are they not segregated, if they arent then im assuming no)

Also...we wanted 50's primetime to be OOP for him, but he only likes chicken fingers, not nuggets (he has a wierd thing about secret unknown chicken "parts" in nuggets LOL)..are the chicken nuggets at 50's primetime good..or gross (formed chicken or chicken breast)? He hates hamburgers and mac and cheese and only eats hotdogs with chili and cheese and loves fish..see picky...told ya..promised him his own shrimp cocktail appetizer tho.

Also...one more question..this is the wierdest. Can he get French fries anywhere? Like at Coral reef, this is his birthday dinner and he'll be very happy with the kids mahimahi, but not the mashed potatoes or the green beans...do you think they have FF's or baked potatoes?

Told you they were dumb questions!

My dd will just have turned 10 when we go too. She won't eat half the stuff your son will, she's very picky! For any buffet/family style restaurants he will be charged as an adult. All guests are free to choose from anything on the buffet, and yes there are kid's type foods on all of them. My dd only had PB&J every time we ate at 50's PTC so I don't know about the nuggets there. It seems like alot of the kid's meals are chicken nuggets, not fingers, but he would be entitled to an adult meal so he could order whatever he likes from the menu. He can get fries at multiple counter service locations. If a table service restaurant doesn't list fries, I would assume they don't have them... unless you see it listed with a different entree, then they could probably accommodate him.

We just returned yesterday from 8 days in WDW and the ONLY time my 10YO DS was charged as an adult for dining was for the Spirit of Aloha Luau and I believe that's only because I had to pay for it in advance when I booked it.

We ate at Chef Mickey's the first morning and I had already budgeted paying for his meal at the adult buffet rate but was surprised when I got our check and discovered that he was charged at the child's rate.

This also happened at TBD where we had a Fantasmic Dinner Package booked as well as every other TS restaurant we dined in.

Now, that being said, I was up front with the fact that he is indeed 10YO (and has been since January) and was well prepared to pay for all of his meals at the adult price rate. It may be a YMMV type of thing but I don't think that WDW is terribly rigid when it comes to charging 10YO "adults" full price at meals.

thanks for the input! I wasnt sure how the buffets were set up, for some reason i was picturing a kids buffet "area" and then the ayce desserts...but i'm guessing your saying no matter whether adult of child anyone can eat of the kids buffet and the adult area? I get it. Hmmmm well, paying 30.00 with tip is better than paying for a dinner at Cali grill, but NOT better than paying for two seperate meals. I'll have to ponder this for a bit lol.

funny thing is we went to Golden Corral today (yuck..DD's favorite) and all the little guy ate was 3 shrimp and a piece of catfish and salad. Not even dessert. for 30 bucks, thats an expensive "snack!" :p

I did see where Coral Reef has pasta as a meal, for much cheaper than the child can have for the fish/veggies/potato meal...maybe they would give him pasta and fish. I'll worry about it when i get there :)
