Silly question, maybe

We leave on Sunday and due to some new financial issues I'll have to charge our rental car. Do rental companies care who pays for the car? It's in DBF's name since he's over 25 and I'm not but the card I'll be using is obviously in my name. Is that going to cause an issue? I'd assume as long as they get paid and I will be in the car it won't be a problem but ya never know. Oh and we're using Alamo if that matters.

I know that a couple of years ago I had the same problem and had to use someone else's card because I was not 25 and they would have charged an outrageous fee for being under 25. This was about 5 years ago and things could have changed, but to be on the safe side I would make sure to bring DBF credit card.

Have you considered pre-paying? That might allow you to pay with a credit card not in your DBF's name. You can also look into using Hotwire or Priceline.

Unfortunately, that's kind of our problem. DBF only has a debit card and his car just decided it wanted a new starter and rear shocks so nearly half of the money we were going to take is now going to that which is why I have to pay for a few things. I think, just to be on the safe side, I'll pay for his car so we can still use his debit card for the rental.
