Ok, with all of the HEAVY topics on the DIS I thought i'd ask you all a very lighthearted question about lending clothes to a friend.

Last year, a friend of mine had a wedding and she was broke. I have a lot of dressy dresses from work and other social events, so I lent her two dresses.

Fast forward a year...i've asked her for these dresses twice, and she's mentioned about 5 times that she "has" my dresses to give me back. At this point, I don't even expect getting them back, and I wonder if something happened to them, or perhaps she likes them so much she wanted to keep them. Any suggestions on how I can handle this? It's not so much that I need them back, but they were nice dresses. In addition, one was the dress I wore to my mom's funeral and it just sort of has sentimental value.

Prehaps she spilled something on them, feels guilty about not getting them dry cleaned or even ripped them.

I'd just give her a call and give her a time you'll drive over and pick them up. Tell them another friend needs to borrow them.

Ditto!

what i would do hehehe... call her and say you need to talk and want to come over. go over there and say okay what i wanted to talk about was my dresses. and then she can go get them when you nicely say "fork over the dresses and it will all be okay!!" just kidding but something along the sort of going over to confront her to get them back.
