Silly question - How do you ship a christmas tree to yourself at DVC?

We're going to be at the Boardwalk Villas December 2-15, and we've decided that it's long enough that we'll want a tree.

We plan to bring some ornaments and pick up a few WDW ones while we're there. The tree is another thing. We found a four foot pre lit one at JoAnns for only $30. Shipping is currently free.

Has anyone had a tree shipped direct from the retailer to your resort? How did you have it labeled so it would be associated with your family and reservation ?

Any problems with timing? Trees coming in earlier or later than expected?

Thanks in advance! :cheer2:

get on the tree list.

if you still want your own - you have to give too much information to a retailer than I would be comfortable with.

your name, reservation number, your resort, when you arrival (this is the one I would have definitely problems with - considering they know you address)

I tend to agree with Pat as far as sharing all that information with a retailer. Probably not a great idea to let people know when you'll be vacating your home.

I believe that wdwstar has closed down any more requests for adding to the share-a-tree list, so that option is probably not available.

If you ship it yourself (or have the retailer ship it), you will want to ship it directly to the resort's street address. It should be marked "Hold for Guest XXX arriving XX/XX. It should not arrive more than one or two days in advance of your check-in. You should not have to put the reservation number on it...just make sure the guest you name in the address is the one that the reservation is in the name of.

We're planning to spend Christmas at HHI next year. I figure we'll stop at the Christmas tree farm on the way there and cut one down and then take it home with us. Just a small one, but, it will still be a tree.

Sorry, really don't want to rain on your parade, but if you do this, please let Mousekeeping know so they can run some type of portable air cleaner in the room after you leave. Some people have absolutely horrible allergies when it comes to live Christmas trees...and it's even worse for people with Asthma. To them, this would create the same symptoms as if they were assigned a smoking room. Okay -- off the soapbox now! :)

This is very true, however a fake one would be ok...if that is your style. I ship a couple boxes everytime we stay and I ship 7 days prior via UPS ground and it gets there everytime. Always waiting for us when we arrive. I note on the outside of the box that it should be held until the specific arrival date. I then pre-print a UPS label and send everything back home. Works great!

Thanks for the tips, everyone! We're looking forward to a festive time at WDW. Last time we were there in December, we just enjoyed the decorations in the parks (which were fabulous) but it will be nice to "come home" to a Christmas tree as well. :)
