Hi,
This may seem like a really stupid question
But we’re going to Florida this summer (first time) and wondered if we need to bring bed linen and towels etc. We are staying in Emerald Island and wondered if anyone could let us know.

Another question.. If you bring a back pack to the parks is there somewhere to leave them or do you end up carrying them around everywhere?

Lastly, how far is the nearest supermarket from Emerald Island?

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers
Mo and Dave

Hi

Bed linen and towel's are provided.

All park's have locker's for you to leave you thing's in at a small cost.

Can't answer your last question, but i'm sure someone will be along that can.

Hope this help's.

If this...

...is Emerald Island (beautiful by the way), then I think the closest one is this.

Travel up Formosa Gardens Blvd to US 192. Make a left onto US 192. On your right a short distance up (not sure exactly how far) you will see a Publix on your right.

I stayed at Silver Lake resort once which is on Black Lake Road which is very near to where Formosa Gardens Blvd intersects US 192. I remember making a right and seeing Publix in very short order.

Anyone else care to verify my memory?

I just checked the directions to Emerald Island and I know exactly where that is. I'm 95% certain that the directions I gave above are accurate and that the Publix is the closest.

And it can't hurt to ask at the resort to be sure.

Hiya

Lockers are provided - For a cost.

But please be aware that they dont always work. In my many trips to DLP & 1 to WDW I have never been able to access a locker due to 'security'. It would appear that whenever I set foot on Disney property they have a bomb threat and therefore all lockers are immediatley taken out of action. I was fine with a locker at IOA though, Perhaps Disney just dont want me there!

My point is dont take anything that is literally too heavy to carry just incase you do end up with it for most of the day.

I wonder what you are going to carry in your backpack. If you take the minimum - i.e. water, camera and poncho!! then do you really need a locker?

The lockers are at the entrance of the park and rather inconvenient to get to if you are past Main Street.

Another solution. I'm not sure how much locker rentals are, but single stroller rentals are only $8 (with a 1$ refundable deposit, total 7$). You could get a stroller for your bag!

You also need to take a mattress and pillows as well as a quilt with a minimum tog rating of 20, or you will not be let into the hotel.

HI :wave2: no silly questions just silly answers!! just wanted to say hi and welcome to the DIS, don't worry about bed linen or towels for hotel use, you may want to take beach towels for water parks but you can rent them there for $1 per towel, so saves carrying them if you then go on to downtown or another park after. also beach towels are a great souvenir, pirate:

Hi thank you for all your replies,
Nice to get so many helpful and constructive answers apart from one (but hey, there's always one idiot that thinks hes a comic) :rotfl2:
Its really good to know about the beach towels, as there is 6 of us thats a lot of towels to carry.

56 days to go  :cheer2:  :cheer2:  :cheer2:

There is also a supermarket on Formosa Boulevard - right by the junction with the 192 :)

The earlier post that gave directions to the nearest Publix is very accurate.
Turn left onto the 192 at Formosa Gardens junction, about half a mile on the right hand side - next to Orange Lake.
Very handy, the smaller supermarkets near at FG shopping plaza can be expensive.

Do NOT go to a supermarket other than Publix unless you have an urge to be fleeced.

HA HA HA

very true!!

I don't find the supermarket on Formosa Boulevard too bad actually and it's really close

There are two Publix on the 192 heading west and then a Walmart 1/2 mile north of the junction with SR 27 :teeth:

Hey there's no need to call me an idiot, it was meant as a bit of fun and should have been taken as such. I can see you are a newbie around here, this isn't really a board for namecalling...... :sad2:

You did say it was a stupid question and what do stupid questions normally receive??????
