Silly question about points and use year

I'm a little confused. If my use year is in Dec and I call now and make a reservation for Feb. Am I using the points for the time I make the reservation or when I stay. In other words, would the Feb stay use my 2008 points coming Dec 2008? Thanks.

You will use points that are available for the time of your stay.

Do you have points left in your 2007 Use Year? If so, they should have been banked into 2008 so you wouldn't lose them. If you have banked points in your '08 Use Year they will use those first when you make a reservation. (Of course, it never hurts to remind them to use those first!) If you have no banked points then any reservation for dates between 12/1/08 and 11/30/09 will use your Dec. '08 points.

It goes by the date of stay. With a December use year, a February 2009 stay would be in your December 2008 use year. So Dec 2008 would be considered current year points, you could also use Dec 2007 banked and Dec2009 borrowed. All those points are currently in your account, there is no waiting for the use year to start.

Note that the booking policy has changed since those threads were posted. It is now 11 months (or 7 months) prior to your desired check in date l instead of prior to your desired check out date. But otherwise, the information is still correct.
